- An Airalo package comes with data (e.g., 1GB, 3GB, 5GB, etc.) valid for a specified time period (e.g., 7 days, 15 days, 30 days, etc.). If you run out of data or your validity period expires, you can top up your eSIM or download a new one right from the Airalo app.
How much does it cost?
- eSIMs from Airalo start from US$4.50 for 1GB of data.
Does an eSIM come with a number?
- Some eSIMs, including our Global Discover+ eSIM, come with a phone number so you can call, text, and access data. Check your eSIM's description for details.

- Digital nomads who need to stay connected to work while abroad.
- Crew members (e.g., seafarers, flight attendants, etc.) who need to stay connected while they travel.

Can I use my SIM card at the same time?
Yes! Most devices allow you to use multiple SIMs and/or eSIMs simultaneously. You can keep your primary line active to receive text messages, calls, and 2FA authentication (but remember, they'll be subject to roaming fees).
Happy travels!

I used an Airalo e-sim card when I had a complicated trip going to four different countries in two different continents on my first overseas trip since Covid. It was brilliant – easy to set up, worked perfectly everywhere, gave me clear information as to how much data I had left and was equally easy to top up. I never had to call customer service once. I have kept the Sim card on my phone since then and used it on two other trips without having to do any extra work. It covers multiple countries, the prices seem really reasonable to me and the fact that you don’t get a local number was an advantage for me as it means that I can still check the voicemail on my local number or even answer it if necessary while away. You do need access to public or someone else’s Wi-Fi to make it seamless if you don’t have a local number but in the places I was that was easy. The only thing that is slightly complicated is learning to toggle between the eSIM number and your original number but I figured it out. Overall, I think it’s a game changer and I won’t be going back to any other way of keeping my phone usable while overseas.

I used Airalo eSIMs for a recent trip to Mongolia and China. In Mongolia I was traveling with two friends who were also using Airalo. We all had Apple iPhones with up to date software. A lot of the time we all had strong signal but no accessible data. Then one person would have data (usually 3G due to the network in that region) and the other two would have none! This meant it was impossible to contact each other reliably. It was very frustrating not to have access to data when the person standing next to you using the same eSIM on the same phone had full connectivity! Initially I put it down to the telecom network provider in Mongolia but then when we arrived in Beijing we had exactly the same experience with our China eSIMs. This made things very difficult to pay for things as connectivity is essential to make payments using Alipay (one of the preferred payment platforms) or to use WeChat or DiDi - essential apps for travel in China. I would literally be standing next to my friend trying to make a payment and my phone data showing E and hers 5G! Ridiculous situation! I’ve previously used other eSIMs and have not had this issue. Can NOT recommend Airalo.UPDATE: I received an email containing two links. The first to contact the developer regarding the issues I experienced and the second to update my review. The first link doesn’t work - “this resource is unavailable” … I think the whole system is flawed.

I am by no means a techno. So I was quite nervous taking this on. I confess, I am not sure I know just how I got it to work. But work it did. My data use is quite low and the 10g I purchased seemed to last forever. But then it started chewing thru it. I suspect all the web sites I accessed and their cookies? It didn’t work for a while, and the suggestions I received were very helpful. Then I realised it was my fault. On one flight I had turned off data roaming - duh! My own phone is a pre paid. So there was no way the data roaming applied to my home mobileMy only issue is that when I needed to to a top up, for my last country. The offer came up for multiple countries- which I had previously purchased. I could have paid half the price if I had realised I could nominate one country. But for the hassle free access, I am prepared to accept this. My friend who had another option - had so many issues with wifi dropping out

Disappointing

The first sim I purchased did not install correctly on the first attempt, and as a result was unable to activate it at all. So i deleted it and started the process again by purchasing a new sim with less GB so as to not lose as much $ if it was not successful in installing again. This one worked, and for 2 days the data was great, super fast and reliable. My partners was the same (his sim worked on the first try) but after a couple of days, it was so slow, almost to the point of not being able to load anything including google maps, which was incredibly frustrating as we thought we could rely on the internet to navigate our way around. We did some research, which suggested that higher density populated areas could result in this, as you are a lower priority within the network. We were in Japan, so as you can imagine it was very busy. But when we left the cities and were rural, the sim was still just as slow for the remainder of the trip and we ended up just giving up on it and spent a fortune using our Telstra daily roaming plan at $10 a day. After reading such great reviews we had high hopes for this one but it was really such a frustrating waste of money and time
