I’m never going back. To paper, to other pdf software, to anything. This is the best money I have ever spent, hand to God. I was able to keep meticulous notes on three separate roles I was covering (plus my ensemble track) and it was all in one place. And the piano? You’d be surprised how often I use it on this app. And if that doesn’t help you, let me just say that I’m writing this review maybe 5 years after I initially bought it. I’m pretty sure I’ve used it every day since. And not just for sheet music.So. Frikin. Worth it.
Lacking one key essential feature,
abitternerd
I have been using forScore for well over 18 months now, with various live projects, across countless gigs and a library of over 200 charts. I am frustrated with these aspects about the app:• Feedback to developers is only available to users who have purchased the “Pro” version of the app. I’ve encountered various bugs in using forScore and there is no customer support for users who have already paid for the app once already.• Users locked out of simple “stamps” unless you upgrade to Pro. The draw function is undesirable, it would be nice to have these simple symbols without having to pay extra for them. • Notation editing: It should be easy enough (as a developer) to build a notation editor in the software. I spend most of my time making annotations, and the copy/paste function in the Selection Tool is BUSTED. I have lost hours upon hours of work with the tool being unresponsive, and also causing a “smudging” effect when it bugs out, forcing me to erase and start all over again. - the annotations also nudge almost 100% of the time, so if you’re meticulously attempting to line up a note on the stave, it immediately goes out of position after you’re done setting it in place.• Ruler tool doesn’t work with Apple Pencil; cannot create straight lines in annotation• Page turner issue: At times, my bluetooth wireless controller becomes unresponsive inside the app. The only fix is to close forScore from the swipe-up menu and reload the app. This is extremely stressful on gigs, especially between repeat sections that span two pages.———————————————I look forward to finding the next thing that’s better than forScore. If you don’t have to annotate your scores, you will be fine, but otherwise… run for the hills.
The updated version is scary to use
AnickaSlunicko
After the recent update, forscore has a mind of its own. Very slow to turn pages, often doesn’t recognize page turns, often doesn’t recognize when i want to write something in. It takes a while to register writing and page turns especially when tapping the screen. I get the white screen every day. Sometimes it turns two pages. Last night I played a concert and had to wait about 20 seconds for forscore to settle and recognize my pedals. Everyone that I know that uses forscore has the same experience. I feel uncomfortable using it again at a concert. Can you please fix it?
Developer Response

Never looking back

Having my entire music library (the equivalent of a room’s worth of sheet music) with me on the go, 24/7 is something short of a revelation. For teaching, performance, travelling I just can’t recommend this app enough. Also paired with a Bluetooth page turner (Blueturn for me) it allows you to do things that you wouldn’t with physical pages, like rehearse and perform reading the score (something that my string quartet all do) As far as useful tech (and I’m a bit of a geek in this regard) forScore is the app that has made my professional career so much simpler❤️
This update fixes a bug that prevented external display options from appearing and resolves an issue that failed to properly restore cropped pages from archives.
