Keep a logbook for 12 continuous weeks and the business-use percentage it produces can support your car claim for up to five years, as long as your driving stays representative. There is no kilometre cap under the logbook method. You claim that percentage of your actual car costs: fuel, servicing, insurance, registration and decline in value.
If you drive under about 5,000 work kilometres a year, cents per kilometre is usually simpler. The ATO rate is 91 cents per kilometre for 2026-27, capped at 5,000 kilometres per car, so $4,550 is the most anyone can claim that way. Above the cap, the logbook method generally returns more. Everlance records the trips either method needs.

Drive 3,000 kilometres during your logbook period with 1,800 of them for work and your business-use percentage is 60%, so 60% of your car costs for the year come off your income. A logbook you filled in from memory on a Sunday night is the kind that does not hold up.
The drive from home to a regular workplace is private travel, not work travel. Everlance classifies trips so only the ones that qualify end up on your claim.

Promising app but poor support.

I’ve just gone through 1/2 dozen mileage tracking apps and have dismissed them for various reasons. Everlance shone out way above all of them. But, even though it is a beautiful app it could use a few features and flexibility by options to:1.Create Quick reports for a set day not just Today, this week etc showing distance and $$$ for each category and not just for work, personal and other;2.save basic quick reports;3.stop trip immediately on disconnecting from Bluetooth, as it’s easier to merge trips than separate trips because the trip wasn’t stopped;4.have more greater flexibility for casual staff that work more than one period within the same day;5.add trip times for manually added trips so they slip in in the correct order rather than staying at the front/top of the list of entries;6.Provide more than one route option when manually adding a trip;7.Fix problem selecting custom dates;8.Have custom date default to current day/date/month; and9.Improve import format to the Numbers app.
App crashes every time I’m creating a report

I love this app I drive a lot for my job and it’s been invaluable. Every time I try and create and save a report for my km’s for the financial year it keeps crashing and doesn’t save. Please fix this. Thanks

I’d like to suggest adding an option to disable automatic tracking stop and allow manual stopping instead, because I need to do long tracking sessions and sometimes I stop for a few minutes, but it ends automatically.Thxxx

Our new glass buttons drifted a bit off-center last update, like a car that needs an alignment. We took everything in for service, and it’s all back where it belongs. No charge for the tune-up.
