Lenovo Link 4+

This app is horrible, I have tirelessly tried to connect my Lenovo smart bulbs for so long and it began to work, but as of recently, it says “failed to login” and I can’t add any new devices because it freezes up. It is also a pain as I need to use this app in order to connect to the bulbs, in order to update the firmware of the bulbs, in order to use the Lenovo link pro app, in order to connect my bulbs in that app, in order to use one app to control all the Lenovo devices. Please fix, the amount of times I had to refund and exchange the products due to them not working, and now not even the app works makes it even worse. I have faith that a good brand such as Lenovo will fix this immediately

I have 2 Lenovo Smart Clocks, a couple of smart plugs and bulbs. To be fair, the Lenovo products are pretty good and when I first set it up, all worked well. Using this Lenovo Link app, I connected the plugs and bulbs, set up schedules, then connected Lenovo Link to Google Home and was able to voice control everything using the smart clocks.

All went fairly well for 2 weeks. Then the scheduling failed. Lights wouldn’t turn on/off when they were supposed to. The Lenovo site suggested a firmware upgrade and after I did that, it became worse as all the plugs and bulbs wouldn’t connect to the network. Despite trying to factory reset them, they were useless. I reinstalled this app, rebooted the router, did everything their support team suggested but no luck. I was ready to return these products when I found on their forum that other users had tried the TuyaSmart app instead.

The TuyaSmart app is what Lenovo Link should’ve been. It’s super responsive, i.e lights turn on the instant you tap your phone, unlike the 3 second lag with the Lenovo app. And there are so many more scheduling features there. All the Lenovo products work so much better with TuyaSmart.

I’m therefore happy with Lenovo’s smart products as the build quality is good, and would buy more of their products as they’re reasonably priced, but it’s this app that really lets them down.

Another helpful reviewer gave me a tip. Use the TuyaSmart app. I couldn’t figure that out. The Lenovo website doesn’t help. The app doesn’t work right. What I finally got to work is 1) install the Lenovo app and connect it to your light. It will barely work. 2) once connected update the firmware on the light. 3). Once done power off the light and turn back on. 4). The light will blink rapidly. Use the TuyaSmart app to connect to it. Choose light and choose the option for other (I.e. a 3rd Party) light
