This could be better than every language learning app..

Hi! My parents always wanted me to learn their language which is Malayalam. So I looked up on the web for the best language learning app and it showed me a monkey with a black cap and right next to it ‘Ling’. So I download this and for only like 1 hour I learnt a lot. I love it. But like every other thing there is one issue and that is… It costs money for premium 😭. I have to watch an ad if I want to get access a new lesson/unit. Another thing is for normal lessons you can watch an ad. But for dialogue it’s a must-premium. Overall if your a pay to win this is really good. But it’s still possible if you don’t wanna pay. Other than that super good language learning app 👍❤️🔥:):>:D

The range of languages is excellent. I’ve been a long time user of a few other language apps but Ling was the only one I could find that offered Serbian. There are however some things that could be better. Firstly, whatever clock is behind the streak counter is drunk. It seems that if I complete lessons on consecutive days but more than twenty-four hours apart they don’t translate to a streak of two, for instance. Often the different graphs and metrics that show streak will give different readings. Secondly, the conversation at the end of each lesson is not able to be slowed down. Thirdly, when filling in a response from a pool of words, the words re-order after you choose each word resulting in unnecessary mistakes that have nothing to do with your comprehension. Ling is the only app that I’ve used that exhibits this weird behaviour.

I enjoy using the app and feel motivated to use it everyday.The Speaking lessons with voice recognition are a bit buggy. The volume of the app always goes very quiet when using these lessons which makes hard to repeat what is said - I then have to close the app and reopen to fix the sound. Also, if numbers don’t translate into words you get 0% even if the app recognises you say the correct number.The multiple choice questions can be too easy - often leaving you with picking the obvious answer. For example you might have to choose between “the man eats soup” and “the woman reads a book” - the differences are obvious. The choice really should be more similar like “the man reads a book”, “the man reads a newspaper” and “the man reads a magazine”The one other thing the app is missing is proper review functionality. Ideally it would use spaced repetition where you could review the words and phrases you forget the most - like Anki.I think if they could implement these sort of changes this would be the best language app available.

This company scammed me and others: buyer beware

Be aware that there is no in-app way to unsubscribe from the Ling Language Learning app during your “free trial.I had to email Ling to tell them that I wanted to unsubscribe. Ling offered me a reduced rate on a yearly subscription when i emailed to cancel my subscription--they said they would give me a great price *instead of* cancelling the subscription, and had me pay outside of the Apple app store.Then they took my money, Apple ALSO charged me for the subscription at their full price, and now Ling has over $200 of my money which they are refusing to refund. Apple is also refusing to refund.This company is scamming. Don't fall for it. You can see other reviews on the Ling Language Learning app when you look at the App Store on your phone.UPDATE: in the reply below the company claims that they processed a refund—this is a lie. I filed a chargeback with my credit card for the charge I paid directly after the company ceased answering my emails about the situation. The ONLY reason they gave that money back was because my bank was already taking it back and they didn’t want to be blacklisted.as for the second charge, they deliberately told me to keep my account through Apple open with them, knowing that I would get charged through them, and that Apple would UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES give that money back. They know perfectly well that Apple refuses to refund subscriptions, and their scam depends upon it.I repeat: this company are scammers, and you should avoid them at all costs. Even their service is a scam, with the first few modules being decent and the rest being lowest level garbage that won’t help any serious learner advance. It’s a scam from every direction.
