OneDrive [syncs files].
OneDrive syncs [the edits made to] files.
OneDrive syncs the edits made to files[, saving you time and bandwidth].
Along with performance improvements and bug fixes, the team is proud to announce that OneDrive now supports differential sync.
So whether you're going back to the drawing board and changing everything, or just tweaking a few pixels on an otherwise flawless image, OneDrive will sync your changes (and just your changes) to save you time, which is money, and therefore the only logical conclusion is OneDrive saves you money.
This feature is available for your personal OneDrive, and will be available for business OneDrive and SharePoint later this year.

OK, but needs work
Obviously if you have a Office subscription and have 1TB of onedrive, its a nice service, and synchronisation of files happens at an OK speed, however its not as well integrated as Apple iCloud Drive or even DropBox. Biggest minus for OneDrive is very high CPU utilisation when its looking to synchronise files with the cloud, which means if you are on a Mac laptop and running off battery, it can drain the battery fast. If you have a mixture of Apple Mac and Windows, it is better than iCloud, as iCloud wont synchronise the Windows files and Mac files, which means Onedrive is your best choice for a mixed environment.
Reliable and unobtrusive
I’ve been using OneDrive for about seven years, and after some early hiccups it has worked without any problems, syncing data between my Mac, my iPad and my Samsung phone (and the OneDrive cloud). I originally started using it to sync data between my work Windows PC and my home Mac, which it did fine. There are occasional issues with filenames which are permitted by MacOS but not by Windows - OneDrive enforces Windows file naming rules. My only complaint is related to the behaviour described above about “real time collaboration” - I would prefer this to be an option rather than mandatory (it seems). I have a couple of Excel workbooks with multiple hyperlinks between them, and the new versions of OneDrive and Excel changed the hyperlinks from local workbook / sheet / cell file references to URLs, which meant that Excel would open (or attempt to open) the cloud version of the workbook rather than the local one. It’s necessary to manually edit all the hyperlinks to change them back to local file references, which is irritating and time-consuming.
Now I don’t need dropbox :) One less cloud subscription!
Onedrive is great, and free with my Office365 subscription.
I have kept Dropbox, for file storage and access, but it was duplicating function with iCloud. Dropbox had one feature i wanted that iCloud didn’t… to auto upload my photos from my phone and keep them. iCloud uploads them also, but it syncs to my phone so if I delete a pic on my phone I lose it forever!
Now I can get rid of Dropbox, save money, and reduce to just the 2 free services, onedrive and iCloud.
One day I might reduce to just one! wouldn’t life be simple! :)
