Ratings and Reviews
Best of the Best
I seldom write app reviews, but Plexamp deserves high praise. I’ve been using it for a few years now, to play FLAC and APE files from my NAS. Plexamp takes all of the magic & wonder of Plex, and applies it in a way that is appealing to an audio nerd such as myself. The codec badges (which they say are to show off to your dog) are a very nice touch - I don’t have a dog, but I showed my friend’s Jack Russell and he barked, so I assume he was most impressed. I have always found Plexamp to be reliable and it has worked with every device I have connected it to, in the frequency / sample rate of the original file. Being able to wirelessly stream 96kHz content such as Gackt’s timeless album “Mars” - conveniently with my smartphone - is a real thrill.
Keep up the amazing work, team at Plexamp. I love what you do & hope you keep doing it for a long time to come.
Developer Response ,
Thanks for the kind review, we really appreciate it!
Disappointing so far……..
With all the rave reviews, I was expecting so much more than an “iTunes” music experience but am yet to discover it.
I am new to the amp, so I am still learning the in’s & out’s, but it’s the little things like -
Selecting how to list music collection, which I choose artist, now you think that it would then list the albums of that artist in alphabetical order, but no, not the case, they’re listed randomly from what I can tell.
I was under the impression that I’d be able to create a music library, not just import my existing iTunes library, which I don’t seem to have any adjustment of. So when it doesn’t recognise the albums meta data and lists a 4 disc compilation album by each individual track because it’s a different artist……and other albums that it has grouped under the “unknown artist” unknown album”, where it only lists track durations, no track names………….got 6 of those, with about 40-50 tracks in each.
The fact I’m unable to adjust that, is rather frustrating.
Exceptional. I’ve reconnected with all my old music in a whole new way
After several days of an internet outage I had to rely on only local music on my Plex server. I’d had Plexamp installed but never bothered with it much because Apple Music has been my default streaming choice for ages. But with no streaming available for days I got right into Plexamp and was delighted and surprised at how it reinterpreted all my music into new mixes and playlists. Amazing. If you have Plex, and a big library of your own tunes (from the days before ubiquitous streaming music) then this is a fantastic way to rediscover your music.
