Description
Quick-entry for Apple's Reminders app.
Remind Me Faster is designed to add a reminder with as few taps as possible. Open the app and you're typing. Add a reminder and you're ready to type the next. The interface is optimised for the moment something crosses your mind.
It works with and complements the built-in Reminders app that's already on your iPhone or iPad. Added reminders can be viewed in the built in Reminders app.
• Set time or date notifications with as little as one tap
• Natural language date detection
• Set location triggers for reminders with a couple of taps
• Tap list to choose another, or swipe left/right to quick switch
• Set priority: • ! !! !!!
• Lock Screen launcher, share sheet extension, and URL scheme support
• Alternative app icons
Remind Me Faster is indie-made, lightweight, ad-free, and does not track you. Most functionality is available free of charge, with some extra features available as one-off purchases.
What’s New
Version 5.0
Version 5.0 brings three new features, a lot of polish, and significant under-the-hood modernisation.
Features:
• Share Sheet extension - Share text or website URLs to Remind Me Faster. The text / URL will be pre-filled in the notes field.
• Show unsaved reminders on Lock Screen - For those times when you get distracted before saving a reminder. This feature uses Live Activities to nudge you to finish entering it. Enable in settings.
• Enhanced URL scheme - The URL scheme now supports specifying a list, title, notes, and priority. When used alongside the natural language date detection, this can also allow the URL to set dates for your reminder. See details in settings screen > URL scheme/
Polish & improvements:
• A new animation accompanies ‘adding’ a reminder.
• New animations for incrementing selected date, location, priority, and switching lists.
• Custom date picker is redesigned to be more thumb-reachable, animate quicker, and show reminder title while entering a date. The calendar greys out dates in the past, letting you more quickly orientate yourself when choosing a date. The time picker now uses 5 minute granularity instead of 1 minute, so picking a time is quicker.
• Selected repeating option now shows more clearly in the main view.
• ‘Last used’ default list option now sticks even after force closing the app
• In-app purchases are enabled for family sharing.
• Slight improvements to voice over. Still not complete, so not yet good enough. Will keep working on this.
• Support for ipad cursor button highlighting.
• Improved ‘button shapes’ accessibility.
• Added a mastodon contact link.
• Subtle gradient backdrop used in light mode.
• Updated icon for Reminders app shortcut.
• Preset time buttons that have already passed on the current day will now only fade the text slightly, instead of the whole button.
• You can now dismiss the list of lists by tapping the blank space.
• Slightly updated the view that shows when you have no lists.
• The reminder field no longer animates downward slightly upon typing the first letter. That was a bug. Sorry it took so long to fix.
• Fixed a bug where day presets become out of sync if used after midnight without a force quit
Modernisation:
Ideally you won’t notice this, but for those interested, a lot of development time for this release went into adopting the swiftUI lifecycle, StoreKit 2, and AppStorage.
Ratings and Reviews
Well done
I can't believe I have only just discovered this app. I have tried so many reminder apps, really just looking for what you have done here, something nice and quick to add a reminder. What this app does better over the others is that it puts the reminder into the native iOS reminder app and therefore you get persistent reminders, that was the part that was always missing from the other reminder apps. Well done.
Crashes on launch (bug, see edit)
Edit: developer response is correct, setting a default list in Settings resolves the crash.
Current version crashes on launch under iOS/iPadOS 15, replicated against multiple independent devices, no option to report crash data on re-launch, as the app again crashes immediately.
Developer Response ,
Hi there - really sorry about the crash.
There is one launch crash that I’m aware of (that I’m going to fix soon) relating to the default list that’s selected.
Could you try this?
Open the ‘Settings’ app, and open the ‘Reminders’ sections. There’s an option for ‘Default List’. Make sure a list is selected there. If no list is selected then my app will crash.
If that doesn’t fix the issue then you can either get in touch on Twitter or I’ll keep an eye on crash logs and hope to fix this in the future.
Either way, thanks for the feedback.
Must have productivity app on your home page
Reminders is great but it’s not the best UI. This is pretty close. You can add most items in a couple of seconds. Try it. You won’t go back.
