Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced powerlifter, Strong provides everything you need to record your workouts as effortlessly and as quickly as possible. Unlike other fitness apps, Strong doesn’t bog you down with distractions and unnecessary gimmicks you’d never use.
Strong is optimized for a progressive barbell routine such as Starting Strength or StrongLifts 5x5, but it is easily adaptable to any other routine of your choosing!

The free version of Strong can save unlimited workouts, but is limited to 3 custom routines. Upgrade to a Strong PRO subscription ($4.99/month or $29.99/year) for an unlimited number of routines and to unlock additional PRO features.
Strong will automatically charge your iTunes Account at the end of your subscription or free trial period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of your current period. Subscriptions renew at the original price. You can turn off auto-renew at any time and still receive full functionality until the end of your current period, but no refund can be provided for unused portions of the subscription. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable.
If you’ve previously purchased “Unlock Strong” or “Strong Combo Pack”, you’ll be able to use the Restore Purchases option in the app for access to all Strong PRO features.

Reliable, functional, everything you need for logging workouts
If you’re in search of a no-fuss gym workout logging app, look no further than the Strong app. It seamlessly integrates with your watch and makes it easy to plan your workouts. While some other apps may appear more polished, they simply don't function well as true workout loggers. Most of them focus on preset workout routines that you might not be interested in. If you want something that provides everything you need to track your fitness journey, including nutrition and specific workouts, then Strong might not be the best fit for you. However, if you're experienced in the gym and need a companion to help you log your efforts, nothing beats Strong. I have a few minor changes in mind, but they wouldn't affect my five-star rating. If the developers are interested in knowing what specific features could be added to enhance Strong, I’m open to sharing my thoughts.
What have you done!!!
Nearly have 300 workouts logged on strong and it’s probably the best one out there but this recent update is quite annoying. Those timers under each set are
Very inconvenient, if you go to change the reps and accidentally press too low you will click on the timer now you have to mess around with resetting it to your original time, sometimes pressing the wrong numbers and having to go back and forth… I know It’s such a small issue but those little disturbances and frustrations in the middle of my workout feel so avoidable and seriously ruin what was originally a perfect app for me. I never write reviews but this is an app I use multiple times a week and have truly loved, there’s gotta be a better way to implement this timer setup, maybe a second window that can’t get in your way like the old timer system.
Used to love it — recent update broke the core experience
I’ve used Strong for years and it was rock solid, but the latest version introduced major usability issues that still haven’t been fixed months later.
The biggest problem: watch and phone no longer sync properly. You can now start totally independent sessions on each device — a huge step backwards. The seamless integration that made the app so great is gone, replaced by clunky, repetitive button presses and confusing behaviour.
Heart rate used to show constantly, which was a brilliant way to track intensity and recovery. Now it only appears sporadically, if at all.
Flow is also really broken which interrupts your routine. Frustrating to no end. It used to be so streamlined and smooth but not I’m spending ages playing around with it and not working out.
Also:
- All my settings (like rest times) reset after the update and multiple times since interrupting flow having to play with the app
- Set completion doesn’t update reliably between watch and phone
- Ending a workout is more limited, with fewer post-session options
- Timers are a mess
- Adjusting weight which is a core function is now difficult and error prone. Especially annoying and phone sync doesn’t work properly forcing you to use your watch
I waited a couple of months to see if these issues would be resolved, but no luck so far. Still holding out hope it gets back to what it was — this used to be one of my favourite apps.
