Navigation pain in the …

Updated again
I cannot believe that an article was written in the advertiser today claiming how good the new app is!
On an iPad the the photos are still huge (Larger than the screen in many cases) between small amounts of writing. There should be an option to minimise the images on the navigation page so you see where you want to go and do one click and not scroll, scroll, swipe, swipe …

updated Why are the photos so large? A simple article requires you to scroll through many pages to read it because the photos are huge. The words are what I am subscribing for! I had a simple set of labels at the top of the page that allowed me to choose which of my sections I would read. Now I have to drag heaps of tiles out of the way to get the options I want way down the bottom!

Can we have the old app back?

This version lost my downloaded editions when I installed ios14.8 then I had to download today’s edition again, twice, to get the trashcan logo. If you close the app, when reopening it doesn’t remember we’re you were up to in your reading. It’s a lot slower to open an edition than the old version. Navigation is not very intuitive- if the page isn’t fully zoomed out you can’t swipe to the next page. Most annoying are the top and bottom navigation bars that are always on. The old version let you view the paper full screen minus those bars. In landscape view the 2 panes scroll independently - can’t zoom the centre comics in the Sunday Mail Binge comics for instance. Many comics too pixelated

Games access

It is pleasing to note that with the advertiser update the developers listened and improved font size, however, why is the size still so limited? And why can’t he access a more bold font? My husband is not the only person visually impaired!
The crosswords clue print cannot be enlarged, preventing him from doing his daily crosswords; those of us who love their games each morning and are visually challenged are still not being catered to.
Also, why can’t we enlarge the photos, or scroll through all photos in the story? This has been raised before, yet no changes. If these concerns are not addressed, I will simply cancel our subscription and buy another separate crossword app, because that section is important!!
