As a new platform, Threads is going through a very smooth launch, with users able to very easily migrate from their existing accounts with Meta’s Instagram.For those managing multiple accounts, there is not yet a smooth solution to account switching, though admittedly these are the minority.The search functions currently as a way to locate accounts, with Instagram (as well as it’s primary competitor, Twitter) still maintains better explore and trending feeds, as well as the capability to search by text content.

The app rarely functions properly. Refreshes at random, drains battery, lags, and often refuses to load video posts.If a post you’re making fails to upload, the entire app will crash. You will not have the ability to delete said post, and it will try and upload every time you open the app, meaning the app will continually crash until you uninstall and reinstall it.The biggest complaint I see from new users is that they were marked as a bot and had to submit personal information to get their account back.There is also severe hate and harassment issues. Death threats, bigotry, and posts featuring child abuse are rarely removed or acted upon when reported. The algorithm deliberately pushes hate & drama as it creates more engagement and there are hundreds of bots that message you with scams if you post the wrong keywords. This is worsened by there being a block limit; many users being harassed by bots or with violent threats can only block a limited number of users at a time and the app quickly becomes unusable or dangerous for those who find their posts pushed to people outside of their immediate social circles. It is also to be noted, that the “hidden comment” feature made to hide “harassing” comments 99% of the time does not hide death threats, but WILL hide positive comments. Overall leading to an extremely negative, hostile environment that is nearly impossible to escape due to the algorithm favouring violence and hate.

So I was getting into Threads and without any anecdotal evidence displaying what the actual issues were I was told I did not meet the community standards and account integrity. Now I would challenge this entirely except I was given no choice. It seems if your comments annoy people by being authentic and telling the truth it gets reported. Then you have no chance of defending yourself when I looked through all their pages of rules there was nothing in it that was much grounds for such severe action. Threads is like reddit, people will report if they don’t like something you said. And there is no real way of learning which comments created the issue to begin with. It’s a very shallow and flawed system. Not recommended.
