Vehicle Logbook by Driversnote 4+

This app is so good it probably deserves a 5 star rating. Easy to use, multiple vehicles (or in my case, same vehicle 3 different businesses), it starts tracking me as soon as I get in the vehicle (with paid version) and it punches out analytics. It is ATO (Australian Tax Authority) approved so it will make submitting my km’s, for tax deduction, to “the man” easy.

Here’s where it loses the 5th star. The paid version is highly expensive. Well, for an independent sole trader at least. What I didn’t know is that the app only gives 20 trips per month for free. The paid version cost me a whopping $165 aud per year. Sure it comes with that handy tracking fob that you just drop in your vehicle and forget about, but not at the cost of that. I shouldn’t complain, I do like it, and I did splash the cash when I was rapidly spending money to launch a new business. But, I may research and move to another, more affordable, option next year.

If you’ve got the money this is a 5 star app. If you’re a struggling entrepreneur like me, you may want to do your research. But I do love the functionality and ease of use. Thanks.

Firstly and I think most importantly, the customer service is fantastic. For the few times I’ve been in contact with the Driversnote team I’ve always had the most polite and helpful people work with me. Big shout out to Kalliopi and Nadja who are superstars! They really know what they’re talking about and it was very easy to communicate with them.

The app is very easy to navigate and does everything I need. Reports are super easy to prepare and if there’s any discrepancies in distances it’s easy to fix. Also adding in manual trips is super easy.
I’ve been subscribed for 3.5 years and never had any trouble with the tracking fob auto-tracking my trips. I’ve gone through one battery which died at 3 years which is pretty low maintenance in my opinion.

I’ve seen some people complain about price but I personally think the price is great. I’ve saved so many hours per year from filling out a logbook manually, (if I even remember to do it). And if I save even 1 hour from doing that and spend that working instead it pays for itself. I now only spend about an hour max per year. On top of the time saved it’s earned me an average of $3000 a year offset. Pay $160 earn $3000? It’s a no brainer.
If $160 is a stretch then unfortunately your business has bigger issues.

I use this in Australia every day. I have my own business and need to claim kilometres for my vehicle. I purchased the automatic tracking and just love it!! I don’t have to try to remember to start a trip before I set off. I love the monthly and annual reports that can be easily generated and emailed or printed. I tried using the free ATO one, but found it difficult and clunky. This one is seamless and so very easy to use, especially with the automatic tracking. The battery went dead recently, and as soon as I contacted them, they were able to look at my account and sent me a new battery immediately with instructions on how to change it. This was also a very easy task and I was back to automatically tracking within a month. It too a few weeks of post from them to Australia, so don’t judge them harshly on that. They are very efficient at getting onto problems that you tell them about and the few issues I have had with Apple updates connecting with this app, they have fixed asap. A very worthwhile app and very with the money.
