What’s New
Version 2.0.4
In this update we made some improvements to work with the latest version of iOS 17. The minimum supported iOS version is now 13. Wemos should now be found during Wi-Fi or HomeKit setup through the Wemo app. The power button on certain Wemos in the device list should stay put when toggling edit mode. Opening an Insight's power details drawer should no longer cause a crash on iOS 17. Certain offline device icons should no longer cause a crash.
Ratings and Reviews
Belkin lacks commitment.
When you decide to produce home automation products, you have to commit. The waning popularity of WeMo reflects Belkin's lack of commitment to the product range. Sensors and portable switches which never materialised. HomeKit support promised more than 6 months ago is nowhere to be found despite Apple now allowing it to be implemented via software, meaning all it should take is a firmware update. It's a shame, because despite its flaws it was an early favourite and the system works reliably if you don't use the app itself very much. Alexa support is good, though that needs work too with the light bulbs.
I hope they reinvest some effort into this platform and try to salvage it, because I'd rather use WeMo wifi switches than Elgato Eve bluetooth ones, but the latter has HomeKit support so it's getting difficult to wait any longer.
Please fix update issues
Had the the switch, maker and light bulbs for over a year and apart from 8 months the product is a constant source on anxiety.
Initially when we had this product we had the switches which worked fine....and still do. Since everything worked fine we tried the Wemo Maker, this worked fine for 6 months without a hitch, then we moved onto the bulbs... that’s when things turned pear shaped.
The bulbs go haywire when there is a update, not on occasions but all the time. The app cannot see the bulbs and you are constantly resetting the bulbs, switching the lights and plug off and on or when you get desperate reinstall the app.
Just look up wemo bulb problems should be enough to put you off, switches and maker fine, bulbs a ballsup.
I am on a constant wonder why they have so many updates, and this will be with me till the day I die...... I fear the next one.
Wemo Switch Button to Trigger Automations
Have quite a number of F7C027au power outlet switches and two F7C028au motion detectors that thankfully still work in Australia. However the Belkin Wemo Smart Light Switch model F7C030au seems to be no longer possible to get in Australia although existing WEMO powerpoint switches like the F7C027au are still functional. Could Belkin enhance the WEMO app so an automation can be initiated via the on/off button on a F7C027au switch? At the moment I seem only able to initiate an automation using the F7C028au motion detectors I have although extra units are also hard to source.
