What’s New

Version 6.0.0

· [NEW] Edit Screen completely revamped to be more streamlined, faster, modern
· [NEW] Several improvements to the edit screen, date pickers and other quality-of-life improvements
· [NEW] Major feature: Tasks can now be assigned individual custom durations
· [NEW] Natural language input now supports taking in task durations, e.g. by typing [15m] for 15 minutes
· [NEW] Tasks can now be assigned priorities and due times even if the service does not support it (such as Google Tasks, Microsoft Todos, Outlook, Exchange). Priorities and due times now sync to other devices running BusyCal (requires latest update)
· [NEW] Tasks now have a new superpower - these can be assigned a Starred status separate from priorities. This also syncs across services that do not support syncing this status (such as iCloud, Reminders, Google Tasks, Microsoft Todos, Outlook, Exchange).
· [NEW] Introducing Task statuses! You can now mark your tasks as “In Progress,” “Needs Action,” or “Cancelled.” via a new drop-down edit option. Plus, these statuses seamlessly sync with supported services such as NextCloud.
· [NEW] Tasks can now be marked as ‘Cancelled’ through the new ‘status’ option. Cancelled tasks, which do not carry forward, appear strikethrough and can be hidden via the ‘View > Show cancelled events’ preference
· [NEW] Pull to sync in Task List
· [NEW] Task List and List View now display a priority button for quickly assigning or changing the priority
· [NEW] Sort by the new "Starred" status
· [NEW] Chinese Simplified now supported in Natural Language Input (Quick Entry)
· [NEW] Korean now supported in Natural Language Input (Quick Entry)
· [NEW] Improved compatibility with NextCloud; sub-tasks no longer become detached after syncing back and forth
· Implemented a workaround to address a Google Calendar change that introduced birthdays and anniversaries into the main calendar without a way to turn this off. BusyCal now automatically marks such events as Hidden during sync
· Fixed bug where custom colors would not be assigned to calendars
· Fixed bug where dupliating certain events would at times fail to sync correctly
· Fixed bug turning on "Ignore calendar color" under calendar options would not work for some services
· Improved handling of MS Graph runtime errors after these were recently changed
· Improved handling of intermittent server timeouts for MS Graph accounts
· Ongoing stability and performance enhancements

· Recently:

· [NEW] Show events from holiday calendars in the footer area (like the mac app). This behavior can be changed from under Settings > Accounts > Calendars and editing the new calendar option
· [NEW] Huge performance improvements for calendars with thousands of events (past and present). Scrolling and app launches should be considerably faster.
· [NEW] Sync New Accounts Across Devices: Once added to one device, new accounts now automatically sync to all other devices (including BusyCal on macOS) via iCloud. Please note: Re-authentication is required as credentials are not transferred or synced.
· [NEW] Calendar Sets now seamlessly sync across all your iOS devices (iPhones and iPads) running BusyCal
· [NEW] Settings / Accounts / Calendar Set syncing via iCloud can be optionally turned off, if needed, on individual devices under Settings > Advanced
· [NEW] Improved settings screen with better grouping

New Update To Tasks is Amazing

The new update to the edit tasks window is MUCH improved. Much more streamlined and far more convenient.

🙏 thank you!

Awful! Everything is Locked. Nothing works.

This App should be called Calendar Brick. Nothing works.

I can’t enter any calendar entries. The calendar screens in this app might as well be screenshots.

It says I have no event calendar, for example, but I see no path to set one up. If there is some magic configuration required, I don’t see what it is. Help not helpful. No email for support.

All I want is a simple solo calendar app for iOS. No syncing. No connection to other services (other than Apple Calendar). No integration with location or contacts. Maybe there is a bug that it needs these permissions or sync to other calendars to work at all? (If so why?)

This app is completely useless for me.

Developer Response ,

Please use Settings > Accounts to add your iCloud account so that you’re able to add events.

DOES NOT WORK WITH APPLE REMINDERS

When Apple reminders updates their app, they removed the CalDAV communication with it. And busycal works on calDAV. So your reminders will NOT show up at all.

I downloaded the app, realized this, tried to get a refund but Apple refused. Contacted busycal and they have not responded. Thumbs down.

Developer Response ,

Please try v3.5.3. BusyCal now supports syncing directly with Reminders. Waiting for an updated review :)
