Miinga is the first app of its kind in the territory, designed with and for Nunavummiut, to help you access a variety of mental health resources and emergency services including healing by talking, medical travel, social services and much more. - Resources: Access and browse a comprehensive list of mental health, and social support resources in addition to emergency services in all three of Nunavut’s regions: Kivalliq, Kitikmeot, Qikiqtaaluk. Miinga has clear descriptions of each resource with up-to-date contact information and hours of operation.
- Emergency Services: Access emergency services quickly with the intuitive emergency button, now prominently placed at the top of the homepage for faster response.
- Filter: Easily sort through “All Resources” and categories to find what you need faster.
- Calling and Texting: Options are available within Miinga so you can contact resources anytime you need help.
- Location Detection: See what region or community is closest to you with location access during set-up.
- Quick Location Changes: Seamlessly update your community location within the same region with a few taps.
- Push Notifications: Get timely notifications about important updates and nearby resources, so you're always informed.
- Sharing: Share any resource or notification with your network directly from the app, including on social media platforms like Facebook.
- Feedback Form: Provide feedback on your experience, report issues, or suggest new features through the app’s feedback form. You can optionally share your email for follow-ups.
- Inuit-Friendly Resources: Easily spot resources tailored to Inuit with a special icon. These organizations have staff or Elders from Nunavut who understand the Northern context, and some may have Inuktitut speaking counsellors available.
- No Service Alerts: Find out when your device is without service or if your device is incompatible with making calls.
- New Community Launches: Stay updated on upcoming community launches.
