A Note From the Creator:
Numinos is a growing suite of tools that I use to explore the languages that I'm learning.
The app isn't designed to teach you a language, but rather to help you experience the language you are already learning, in a new way.
These tools or modules can all be accessed from the Home screen.
A current list of these modules are listed below:
Wander:
This module is like a "random sentence generator" for language learners. After selecting a language you can begin with a randomly generated sentence. From here, each word in the sentence is clickable. Click on a word, and a new random sentence will be generated, but this time it will feature that word somewhere. This module sort of simulates using a monolingual dictionary in your target language. Instead of looking up the meaning of a word you don't understand, you get to see that word in a new context. You can continue this process indefinitely, exploring the language one sentence at a time.
Wonder:
This module is like a new, holistic take on an old language learning favorite: the SRS (Spaced Repetition System)
Traditionally, you would have to source your own target language material to then input into the SRS. This can be difficult to navigate as you are hunting down written material in a language that widely you don't understand. This module solves this problem by allowing you to create target language material directly in the SRS via your native language. It's like a "Creative Translator" and an SRS built into one tool.
In the Future:
Currently the app only features these two modules. I'm currently building and testing others. If any of those prove to be useful, I will add them to the app in an update.
Notes:
The app does require a wifi connection (or data) to function properly. Any content that has already been created in the app can be accessed without a connection, however.
