TomTom GO: Maps & Navigation 4+

I have to admit that TomTom evolved a lot since I’ve used it years ago. Subscription prices are reasonable, map updates are frequent, and maps are also quite reliable. Traffic info, voice instructions, speed limits, lane navigation, sectional speed measuring, faster route suggestion, and other useful related features are all available within your subscription without any extra payments. The interface is well designed, it is stable, and all works well together. Even voice commands and street names reading is available and correct in Czech which Sygic has still issues with even years after I’ve reported that bug there.

If I could have one request, I would welcome an option to automatically download and install map updates. There could be options for automatic install like Always (Wi-fi & Mobile data), Wi-fi only, and Never (which is the only “option” now).

I was really looking forward to trying the Tomtom after several years of using the car's built-in navigation (very good but hard to update). I immediately found that the app is not showing the traffic information along the way. I can see the traffic information in nearby areas, but it is useful only for short trips. For example, planning a trip from southern Switzerland to the Czech is impossible without any additional source like Google Maps. I can imagine that a traffic jam in Munich is not so important 4 hours ahead since it can change significantly, but road constructions could make me choose a completely different way (like Ulm, Nuremberg...)
For the planning, it would also be great to see alternative routes (sometimes the route is completely different, but the travel time is similar).
I would appreciate a button for a quick "north-up" map orientation when browsing through the map (it is very easy to rotate the map accidentally).
I will give it a chance, but after a first look, I am not very motivated for the subscription :-(

TomTom GO Navigation for iOS stands out as one of the most reliable navigation apps available. Compared to other apps, its route planning is impressively logical and efficient. The map quality is excellent, with clear visuals and precise lane guidance that make driving in unfamiliar areas much easier. Offline map access is another major plus, especially for travel in areas with limited signal. I have been using this app for many years I could have always relied on it. I tried also other navigation apps for iOS, but TomTom stands out. Ladislav
