Xcode offers the tools you need to develop, test, and distribute apps for Apple platforms, including predictive code completion, generative intelligence powered by the best coding models, advanced profiling and debugging tools, and simulators for Apple devices. It enables a unified workflow that spans from the earliest stages of app development to testing, debugging, optimization, and app distribution to testers and users. And with the Swift programming language, Xcode makes developing apps easy and fun.
Simulator enables rapid prototyping and testing of your app in a simulated environment when a real device isn't available. Instruments helps you profile and analyze your app, improve performance, and investigate system resource usage. And you can use Icon Composer to design stunning layered icons out of Liquid Glass, Reality Composer Pro to create spatial content, train custom machine learning models with Create ML, and identify potential accessibility issues with Accessibility Inspector.
To test or run applications on an Apple device, all you need is a free Apple Account. To submit your apps to the App Store, you must be a member of the Apple Developer Program. Some features may require internet access and may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices.

Xcode update
Kvêtoslav
Why do you always have to find out that you have to update your xcode by so weird stuff happening???For some mysterous reason I am not able to build the app ( that worked perfectly yesterday ) to my phone this morning. What I would expect to recieve as info ? Maybe something like 'You should update your Xcode before working for your living', but NAAH! You are going to recieve something like 'Your iphone is not available' or other weird stuff...Apple, do us devs a favour, tell us when to update your products.
Horrible experience
Stomatic
The experience with Xcode is terrible when I compare my work with other IDEs.Since the last update, Xcode crashes several times a day, for example when switching build shcemes or renaming files in a Swift Package. I also recently stared developing for watchOS and the debugging is also terrible. In the watch simulator, sending app context to the watch from iPhone simulator does not work and a physical device has to be used. It does not even work with the example app from Apple. Today I have already spent about 2 hours waiting for "Preparing the watch for development" to complete, sometimes resulting in an error anyway. Why does it sometimes happen within seconds and sometimes it takes 20 minutes everytime I re-connect my device? This is just terrible and I cannot understand how this can still be like this for years. It seems like with every new version of Xcode, there is more bugs then improvements.
buggy as hell

The IDE has usefull features but the overall experience is pretty frustrating. It's great when it works. That didn't change in past few years. It's not one particular bug. It's the overall unreliability of the tool. Especially when it comes to UI design (Storybords in the past and SwitUI preview now).Do less features and more testing please 🙏 We are profesionals and need our tools to work. If the tool saves me 10 minutes with the new shiny feature but I waste 2 hours figuring out another issue, it's not a good tradeoff.
Update, update, update...

The biggest pain? Updates. It needs to be updated constantly to keep up with iOS updates etc. Well, fine. But why are the constant updates sooo big and sooooo sloooooow?! It practically leaves my computer useless for hours! And the ergonomy of the UI... well... let's say I've worked with a little bit better systems. 10 years ago.
Xcode 26.6 includes Swift 6.3.3 and SDKs for iOS 26.5, iPadOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5, watchOS 26.5, visionOS 26.5, and macOS 26.5.
This update adds support for Google Gemini in the coding assistant, in addition to Anthropic Claude Agent and OpenAI Codex. It also enables use of other compatible agents through the Agent Client Protocol, and provides bug fixes and improved stability.
