Great Training Program

There are a lot of apps like this but the Athlean X app has helped me much more than any others. The way each workout is structured really targets the least strong parts of your core first, then builds on that strength: lower abs, bottom-up rotation, top-down rotation, and upper abs, always ensuring good oblique work. I used to do a lot of crunches when I was younger and I think this weakened my lower abs. I couldn’t do hanging leg or knee raises but worked through this app diligently. It seemed like I could do more than suggested during the first few weeks but it builds up in intensity throughout the weeks and so I can do hanging leg raises toe-to-bar quite easily and feel core control much more when doing other strength training. The follow along style of app has really helped - totally worthwhile buying!

It will catch you out.

You start the exercise on day one and will start to think that this is not going to be that hard, then out of nowhere at exercise 3-4 it feels like someone has just stabbed you in the abs. These sets all in are all under six minutes, but you will feel like you’ve just done sixty. You only get what you put in, so my advice is keep pushing past the pain (which there is lots of) and you will feel like you have achieved something at the end. My only other bit of advice is to watch the demo video with each exercise before hand as you only get five seconds between each one to get into position and the benefits are only felt if you keep rest time down to a minimum. 6 years ago I left a physical job for a more sedentary job. I noticed a big drop in strength and physical appearance quite quickly. I hate poncy gyms so I bought dip bars and a kettlebell and started everything from home, Jeffs videos are so helpful. I’ve been using a couple of his ab vids for some time now but was getting board. This app brings variation and really motivates you to be more consistent. My core/ab strength is the best it’s ever been. I’m not following the diet but I can see how big and defined my abs have become. A very useful app! Thanks Jeff!
