This is really helping.

I was initially sceptical about how effective this app could be with regards to actually affecting change. However, after a couple of days of engaging with it and giving the time to the initial set up, I am already feeling the benefits and can see how this may well be a very effective tool in helping me achieve my aims of understanding and managing my anger emotions. It effectively facilitates you to become your own counsellor with incredibly helpful tools to assist in reflection on your behaviour. It provides bite sized advice on how to learn about your patterns, recognise triggers and manage your response to events that might normally be challenging. Just having this space to reflect and engage with my behaviour has already been helpful and soothing. This feels like a really good use of phone screen time to me!

This is NOT a free app

I am a little disappointed by this app. Having read through reviews and googling results it seems to be a great evidence-backed tool. However it is NOT free. The app will conduct a personality test then immediately require you to sign up for a 7-day trial. There is no option to refuse a subscription so if you accept this, you must remember to manually cancel your trial in order to avoid being charged. I am not a fan of the app comparing their subscription price to the cost of therapy - ‘look, we cost less than therapy!’ - of course it should, an app is an algorithmic tool, not a individualised and licensed treatment plan provider. I understand the need for devs to keep salaried employees however to not even have free access to the most basic features is quite the let down. I congratulate users who subscribed and have had good experiences but this is certainly not an affordable option for app users seeking to better themselves. There are plenty of free options on the web and through medical facilities in your locale.
The devs are simply not transparent in their App Store description that this is an entirely paid-for app and there are NO FREE FEATURES other than a 7-day trial which I find a little manipulative.
I deleted the app 10 mins after downloading it.

Developer Response ,

Hi Chezzzie - thank you for your review - you are correct - Ahead App does not offer an ongoing Free version. As we are not selling user data to advertisers we require the support from our users to provide our service. We offer a 7-day free trial with full functionality for users to make a decision (we remind about the trial end at day 5 via email). I am sorry you feel let down by our App. We are working very hard for the great reviews from out users. If you are not willing to pay $9.99 a month for that - I agree with you that there are many great free resources out there that might be a better fit. If you are currently not able to pay anything - please reach out to me and we will find a solution. Kai@ahead-app.com

Paid for app, but definitely worth it

So I’ve done the trial and if you’re not paying for this app, there isn’t really any point having it. Service only available when paid for.
HOWEVER if you honestly want to build a better structure dealing with problem, this is a great place to start. I concentrated my time mainly in the Procrastination option and some of the tips have been great, and in doing this daily meant I was more focused and able to do more.
This is bitesized Cognitive Behaviourial Therapy with a focus on not making it overwhelming. The 3 options a day was a tiny bit limiting, but also meant I didn’t go overboard and paced myself better.
If you do procrastination like I did the “Eating your frog” method is seriously best advice I’ve ever had and this is the tip of the iceberg
