Airtable 4+

This app has revolutionised my life. I have been looking for an App/System I can use to catalogue my games collection since I have different platforms with a mix of modern and retro, and this app has been an absolute dream to use! Not only have I started creating a database for my games collection, but I can now document my other collections here too. I can keep track of finances and spending habits each month, Contact database which is already starting to show its uses due to the fact I’ve just started making connections in the sound industry, i would not be without this app now. Incredible tool that will literally change your life and change the way you think.

I have noticed though, and its more of a personal preference rather than a gripe, but I think it would be good to have just a few more icons to select from. For example, one of my collections i want to document is my model train collection and an icon of a track or a train would have been ideal for my database but there isn’t one. And maybe an icon of an action figure or a stickman type icon for things like Funko pops/Action figures. Like i say though, that is more of a personal preference rather than a problem. Overall, its fantastic and would recommend this app to anyone who wants to be more organised in life. Get the app, get it now, don’t waste anymore time.

I first used Airtable at work and found it fast and convenient. I was using the views on the website from a laptop and also reading data from the base via the Airtable API and Javascript npm. It was all very convenient and pleasing. This was to read large amounts of data related to the contents of a website.

Since then I’ve tried Airtable for personal projects. I’m using the free version to write and organise notes for the storyline of a fantasy roleplaying adventure game. I’m using the iOS app and enjoying everything about it. Very convenient and intuitive to use.

I have been enjoying the MacOS and Windows versions of AT, relational databases are a great tool that Google doesn’t give me with G Suite, but the iOS version of AT is seriously limited, grouping is missing, calendar and Kanban views are not accessible, ... The poor experience on iOS is really magnified on a 13 inches iPad Pro. Try to load a desktop version of the app in safari on iOS and you can’t get scrolling working... I love the desktop app for all I can do with it, the possibilities are endless, but in contrast, I feel let down by the mobile app. I started using AT for a business I am setting up, my business partner only has an iPad Pro, I am afraid we have to give up AT as its iOS version feels crippled and start to get on the way of our productivity.
