Afraid to say I am yet another user that just can't compare this favourably to garageband. A fair few months back when all I had was my iPhone, I took the plunge on this and was happy with the sounds (I use the Ampkit adapter, not the iRig). But now I also have an iPad and IK expect me to buy what is essentially the same app a second time, for even more money. And then along came Garage Band for iPhone/iPad and the game was simply over. £2.99 for an app that just does soooo much more, an app that runs on both my devices, an app that gives me 8 track recording as part of the purchase price. Even if I had to buy it twice, at 2x £2.99 it would still cost me only a quarter of what I've spent on Amplitube for iPhone. To get the iPad version including multitrack recorder would cost me another £20. Over £40 compared to £2.99. In what world is that considered remotely competitive?!?I wonder IK, how much you would make from in-app purchases of additional gear if you were selling a universal app. If my iPhone version worked on my iPad as well I would likely buy Fender Gear on top of what I already have, and I'm sure I'm not alone. As it is, I'm not going to send more good money after bad. And I never thought I would consider my Amplitube purchase as bad money, but unfortunately that is how I now feel as it has become a dead end investment. Your business plan needs updating, or you are likely to find your iOS software drops off the map. Even for a dedicated guitarist not so interested in the other features of Garage Band, your offering is not that appealing anymore.
Handy for practicing, but comes with a learning curve.

I wrote a low-scoring review for this app, but I've decided to change it. As with many complex apps, it takes a little time to get used to in order to get the best sound and remember its little quirks. For example, having come back to using this app after an absence, it ain't really like riding a bike; it's more akin to remembering some of the mute buttons and mix-to/inserts on a real mixing desk. Once you remember these things (like the reason you're getting a clean guitar sound but none of the effects work is because you have to go and find the "Insert FX" panel by sliding the faders in the Recorder screen and make sure the effects are inserted into the channel you're working on), this is a fun and useful app for any guitarist. I really like using it for practices, both amped up and over headphones. If I can't get my pedalboard to a practice, the sound it produces is more than adequate in my opinion. It's also useful for making little demo tracks when inspiration strikes. So, not the cheapest app (especially with having to buy the iRig), but as a coder, I know what must go into this app and I think it's worth it in the end. You just need some patience with the interface, which could do with a few improvements in my opinion. For example, some of the channel controls that you find in the mixer on the Recorder screen I'd expect to find on it's own Mixer screen or even on the Master screen and just let the Recorder handle recording duties.
its ok but id save up and get real thing still!!!

I think its ok for a little app but tbh im gutted ive wasted almost £40 on it with the irig and app! and the biggest turn off for me was the fact that you get promised this and that and when you pay the full app price you get a few amps, a few pedal effects, one blimmin track recorder so unless you do covers to backing tracks could never record a full song of your own you have to even register and pay more for the master editor to play with ur song, and unless your ipod can access internet you cant do it!!the most dissapointment tho was the sound i know its a lil app and on an ipod but it isnt cheap cheap!! i got some proper guitar amp headphones which can withstand my marshall 50watt but this is so crackly and fuzzy and after ive countlessly tried messing around with all the knobs and dials (i have used ipod earphones too still bad)if youre buying it hoping to replace floor pedals its a non go-er and for recording well i cant as my ipod touch isnt on the web, its ok only if your away from home and carry a guitar, lead, ipod, and irig with u to have a away from home jam to urself but who takes that around?? lol im dissapointed tbh!!! buy boss pedals or a zoom multi effects!!! hope it helps
Amazing how far we've come

It's strange how I came across this. I used to play guitar a lot but four or so years ago I set it aside and started to focus on other things. A few days ago at time of me writing this I was looking around various shops and I found the Irig attachment and saw what it was for. I didn't think much of it at the time but when I got home it popped into my mind and I remembered how much fun I used to have playing guitar and how it would be cool to have all those amps and effects with me whenever I wanted them so I went back to the store the next day and purchased it and I'm completely away. I was a bit sceptical at first because I was wondering how an app will be able to replicate the real thing but it does. Seriously the sound is amazing and I'm using a standard strat by encore so i can't imagine what it would be like to have a fender strat or les paul going through this thing. I'm gonna save up to get a les paul because that is my dream guitar but yeah if you are on a budget like me or just want to have something to practice or jam with then you cannot go wrong with this app.
What’s new:
• Fixed an issue that could prevent users from connecting iRig BlueBoard to the app
• General reliability improvements
