Backgammon Pro 4+

(1) if you move the counter using the higher number on the dice
first, the system will choose and move the lower number of its
own accord! This is especially annoying when you want to play
a strategic game.
(2) There is no “resign from current game” button. Or if there
is, it is so well hidden that I have been unable to find it.
(3) When you opt to play the “hard” (game) setting, the computer
does not alter its playing strategy to a more sophisticated
level, so that good player might learn how to improve his/her
own game.
Instead, the dice show a succession of double numbers for
the computer, thereby giving it the advantage. I have played
at least 20 successive “hard” games and this has always
been the case!
(4) the beam of light (showing the moves) may be useful for
beginners but it slows the game down unnecessarily for
serious players.
(5) When I PAY for the App, I REALLY dont want or need ads !
In short, this version is a good try but definitely not developed enough for medium to strong players. Andrea Hennessy

I'm a big fan of backgammon in the analog world and this is the best version of the game that I can find for my phone. I do, however find the gameplay a little predictable sometimes: the dice throws can sometimes seem a little 'less than random' so to speak...

This is by far the cleanest and easiest app to play backgammon on against the AI, and definitely worth the £2 to get rid of the ads. Could do with a few new features such as keeping a count of games won and lost and being able to input your own dice rolls to keep things fair. My biggest bug bear is that the game is relatively easy to beat on medium, yet on hard all it seems to do is give the AI exactly the dice rolls it needs at least 90% of the time. I even started calling the AI rolls before they came out and was right a big percentage of the time. If you could roll your own dice and then input the numbers this would mean the AI was having to rely on strategy rather than dodgy dice. Overall good app but needs work.
