Great app but missing key functionality
I love the idea of the app and reading side by side with your mother tongue really does help with language acquisition whilst also learning general knowledge. Two birds with one stone.
The key missing features are as follows:
The translate feature is extremely basic and just shows the word in a small pop up for about 2 seconds. The translate feature should ideally show a much larger pop up with English translation, pinyin, Chinese character and list of definitions and perhaps even more example sentences and with the ability to save the word. The feature as it stands is too bare bones and not very useful.
Secondly the flash cards feature is also very under developed. I think it mentioned there are games to play but I can’t find them. Literally all it shows is the Chinese word on one side and the English word on the other. This needs to be more fully featured.
Lastly there are a few minor bugs. Sometimes when the app is reading to me it rolls the screen away from the current sentence (in both languages). This, as you can imagine, entirely defeats the purpose of this app.
Nevertheless I love the app and have already upgraded to premium. I would just love if they could look at these few issues.

Far too many glitches and crashes
I’ve had at least three separate issues with this, on iPhone and iPad, it just needs a lot more testing by the developers. The audio won’t play on some stories without causing some random issue and shutting down the story forcing it to be downloaded again (this never stops). Layout issues on smaller iPhone screen sizes making it almost unusable at times. And other random layout issues and such that just feel like they need some more attention to detail. Could be a really good app if the rough edges were ironed out!
Also unnecessarily blocking copy and paste in the app so you can’t easily use an exterior dictionary, seemingly just so they can make a dictionary in the app seem like a premium feature you should pay for, is playing the user for a little bit of an idiot I feel.
But I can tell a lot of work has gone into this, just needs some more spit and polish! I really feel that parallel reading could take off in the long run and this app does it well.

Amazing, just one major downfall
I really adore this app but there’s one major issue. Languages with different writing systems have no romanized options.
This makes learning incredibly hard for beginners, especially for Chinese. There isn’t even pinyin to check the tones.
It really is a shame because I love this app, If they added this featured it would be perfect.
