Cam Viewer 4+

Very disappointed with the app, which keeps redirecting me to my iPhone settings (cam is NextBase 380GW).
The biggest issues are that:
—-The cam does not always connect to wifi by itself even though I have all the right settings on for auto connect, so I have to make sure every time, before I start driving.
—-The other thing that’s ridiculous is that if I want to access a video it stops recording (which is fine) BUT there is NO WAY after that to start recording again ( a simple “REC” button would suffice!) and I have to turn the car off and on again all over so the cam/app starts recording again. And of course check it connected!
Such basic features! How have they not been fixed? This is a pretty expensive camera compared to others!

I bought this dash cam for, like many others, the ability to connect via WIFI to view and download clips. But, also like many others, I have experienced connection issues where I'd connect to the WIFI but the app didn't recognise it and kept diverting me to the connection settings.

However, using a little common sense, I checked the Nextbase website and found a firmware update. After following the instructions, the cam operates perfectly now.

A few tips:
• Before using an SD card to install the upgrade, you should format the card in the cam itself. I tried to format the card twice via Windows but just kept getting an, "Invalid card..." error. After formatting the card in the cam, transferring the files, and restarting the device, it worked perfectly.
• If you're worried about losing any previously stored footage, you can use a new/different SD card. Alternatively, copy the contents of the existing card to a PC, format the card, perform the upgrade, then transfer them back afterwards.
• During the upgrade, all cam settings will be reset back to default so make sure to set them back after.

Now I have the upgraded firmware installed, I'm very happy with the cam and would recommend. However, I'm aware there's a v2 series out there so would probably opt for one of those (including the new app).

I’m seriously disappointed with the over experience of using this app. The main selling point for me was the WiFi connectivity and file transfer feature which was heavily advertised. This would not only have saved me masses of time in sending files to authorities immediately from my phone, rather than waiting until I got home to download clips onto my computer, but also the prospect of being able to save all clips to the cloud, thus, freeing up my memory card. HOWEVER! The app is abysmal, every time I activate WiFi on the dash cam, and successfully connect my phone to it as denoted by the confirmation on the dash cam- the app does not recognise any devises are connected and instead, redirects me back to settings in my phone. This is extremely disappointing as should the time arise where I need to send a clip to someone immediately- I don’t want to be faffing around trying to get an app to work.
Again, WiFi connectivity was the most important factor in buying this dash cam, and I’ve been left severely disappointed. It’s effectively no different to a lot of other basic, cheaper 1080p dash cams available without the WiFi functionality.
