Description
Caustic 3 is a music creation tool inspired by rack-mount synthesizer/sampler rigs.
Everything is real-time and optimized for mobile devices.
Create your rack by adding up to 14 machines from a choice of:
* Subsynth - Virtual analog subtractive synthesizer
* PCMSynth - Multi-sample wave synthesizer
* BassLine - 303-like monosynth
* BeatBox - 8-channel sampling drum machine
* PadSynth - Harmonic table pad synthesizer

Supports automation recording on most controls and includes powerful editors for modifying automation curves.
Users can record their own WAV files for use in the PCMSynth, BeatBox, and Vocoder or import files through iTunes file sharing, ACP, AudioShare, or the built-in FTP server.
Supports all uncompressed WAV files (8-16-24-32bit, any sampling rate).
The PCMSynth can also load SoundFont files (.sf2), SFZ and FL/Xewton instruments (.instr, .ZIP)
"Open In.." import support for all preset types, .WAV, .SF2 and .MID.
(MIDI (.mid) files can be imported as raw sequencer note data.)
Supports CoreMIDI and virtual MIDI for note, velocity and CC data. (be sure to set "Enable background audio" in advanced options to use virtual MIDI)

Mr Rhythm
Excellent app for creating music. Holds it’s own against any DAW I’ve seen imo. The only issue I have is the fact you can’t use this app with Bluetooth earphones or speakers which is a little annoying as Bluetooth earphones and speakers dominate the market right now. Maybe an update is due to make the app compatible with Bluetooth devices? Other than that this is a quality app and I would recommend to anyone looking to make tracks on the fly.
Superb!!!
I’ve used virtually all the iOS DAWS available and must honestly say that both in terms of workflow and indeed, ease of use, nothing beats Caustic.
The automation is an absolute joy in it’s direct simplicity as is the superb sequencer which employs a method of input that is truly second to none.
Simply put, Caustic is an amazing achievement from an independent company that quite easily stands up against (and in so many ways actually surpasses!) the likes of the ‘Big Guns’ of Korg Gadget and Apples’ GarageBand.
I’d absolutely love to see some more updates (it’s been sadly, such a long while) such as new synths added and an increase in the polyphony (say 16 or 32) but even as it is now - Caustic is quite simply a superb piece of programming and if you’re at all interested in making music on iOS then you absolutely owe it to yourself to give it a go.
iPhone creative outlet
I’ve had Caustic for a while now - due to a busy daily routine it’s actually become my primary music creation tool. I grew up on Cubase (20+ years!), so to be able to do so much on my phone still astounds me.
I love the depth you can get in to with the drum machine - it’s so easy to load in external samples to play with, too.
I’ve yet to delve in to the vocoder, but a friend of mine seems to be using it like an audio track.
This is truly an excellent app, and such incredible value - Thank you Caustic!
