Thanks from a trans guy 🏳️‍🌈

I’d been trying to track my own periods for years - I knew about apps existing, but they all looked so heavily gendered and I just didn’t feel like they were really made with me in mind. It felt like I was stepping into something that was meant for other people who were more “normal” about their gender and their bodies and who could fit in with having a period more easily. Period apps were something girls at school would use and have bright pink notifications pop up and complain about them openly, rather than something you could use as a guy who’s not really “allowed” to have a body like theirs, let alone “allowed” talk about it openly, or “allowed” to like pink, or anything, without that changing the way people see you.

Last month I saw it mentioned on a trans forum that Clue had been paying attention to guys and nonbinary people with periods, and somebody saying he’d found it comfortable & welcoming to use while trans, so I downloaded it to try, and it’s been SO much easier than trying to keep track of my own. Really appreciate. Thank you. ❤️

It’s just really nice to have a period app where someone like me can be a regular, planned-for, accepted user, rather than an error.

Good but removed useful features in latest update

I do like using this app and find it works great for me at tracking my period. I don’t mind the new update too much, though I wasn’t using any custom tags/for anything other than period tracking. It is a bit annoying to not be able to swap between days as quickly as you used to, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it in time. I do quite like the new look of the main feature for period tracking, as well as the analysis tab and calendar.
One issue I do have with this update is that it removed the explanations from the tracking categories. For example, under the discharge category it has different options such as creamy or sticky, and on the older version you would be able to read a bit about discharge and it would give an example/descriptor of each option. This descriptor applied to literally every option on the app, and I found it so useful to double check and confirm that I was entering the correct information. I do really hope this is added again to the app, as it really helps making sure my periods are tagged correctly.
Overall it is a good app, especially with how you don’t have to pay a subscription unless you want access to the journals (which do look fascinating, and if I could afford to I probably would subscribe!), but there are features that have been removed in the recent update that I really believe should be added back in.

ruined a perfectly good cycle tracker

I never write reviews, but this update has left me frustrated and disappointed. The new update has removed any reason to log anything. Cannot view anything in analysis. Can’t see your own tags. No temperature chart so what’s the point in logging? Can’t use it offline. Doesn’t work with dynamic text so doesn’t fit on screen if you need larger text. Why only part roll out updates so we are waiting in the meantime while not letting us know what we are waiting for? I’ve had to change apps, i no longer recommend it to the women i work with in women’s health. And if you want to be inclusive please remember we’re all going to get to peri-menopause and might be there for a good ten years and weirdly that just isn’t taken into account. Was completely happy with it from at least 2015, now completely useless and i might just hate it. Please let us go back to the old functional version while you work this out in the background. UPDATE in response to the generic response - why release an unfinished update when it leaves the app unusable? Tracking my cycle is a daily affair but i’ve already lost several months waiting for the next release so i’ve had to find another app. How much longer before the final fully functional release is available? And will it do the things we came to rely on before? I would be quite happy to be able to go back to the old version until this ‘update’ is sorted, but until then I have to go elsewhere.

Developer Response ,

Hey, thanks for your feedback. We feel you. We’re sorry the latest update isn’t what you were expecting. This update was based on feedback from our community and is still rolling out in phases. We are confident that the next phases of the rollout will bring you the value you deserve. Thank you for your patience. All the best, Suzon from Clue.
