Ratings and Reviews
This app has taught and helped me so much.
The app offeres a daily diary check in which tracks your DBT, mood and journal as well as information on the different DBT skills and how to use them and many more wonderful things for free. The app has helped me so much as someone with BPD so thanks to the creators.
Content is good, interface is lacking
The content of the app is in-depth and clear. It teaches a lot about DBT and is no life life-improving. As an app that isn’t free, however, it leaves a lot to be desired. Perhaps in the future the developers will address these ideas, but based on my experience with other apps here is what I think would be helpful:
* Spelling and grammar checks. There are a few errors in this domain which bring the overall appearance of the app down. Some sections lack consistency in formatting. For instance, full stops are used after some bullet points, but not others. Apostrophes! An example sentence from the app: “can be used in public without others’ knowing”. There should not be an apostrophe there.
*The app doesn’t remember or record what lessons you’ve completed. This is my main issue. There is a lot of content here, and clicking on a section takes you to other links but there is no record of what lessons you’ve already read/completed. A simple ‘completed’ or a just a tick would be nice.
* Synthesis of information and app layout needs to be reworked. It would be easier to follow if related concepts were closer together. Personally, I think it would be helpful if you had to work through the lessons in a logical order. Maybe that’s the intention of the app but it is not easy to do.
Overall, the content is good and very helpful. It is just let down by minor things and hopefully; formatting and layout will become more user friendly in the future.
Could be good but exploitative
It genuinely feels so exploitative that a mental health app which could literally save lives is paywalled! I understand needing to make money but the method feels so so wrong. Personally I thought this app would be great to brush up on my DBT skills as it’s been around 7 years since I originally did it and I’ve been struggling with my urges but to find almost all the activities are locked behind a monthly pay check is pretty bad! You could do things like incorporate ads, maybe make it so if you spend ‘x’ amount of time then you get an advert for example. This app could genuinely really help but even the crisis management skills are locked. Imagine someone in crisis trying to use this app to avoid an urge only to find out ‘oh I have to pay?’. Imagine if said person can’t afford that, how much more distress that’d add. 😔
