Description

FreeCBT is an open source thought diary for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the "gold standard" of psychotherapy and is widely considered to be one of the most effective, evidence backed treatments for depression, anxiety, and panic. If you go into just about any therapist or psychiatrist, CBT will likely be one of the first treatments they try.

FreeCBT is a companion and self-help app for one of the most common formats of CBT. You may have heard it called "the three column technique" or "catch it, check it, change it." Your brain is really good at making you feel exactly what you're thinking. Often, we find ourselves thinking "automatic negative thoughts" that lead us to fume on something that may not be true. That can cause us to feel depressed or anxious.

CBT helps you record "automatic thoughts," challenge them with cognitive distortions and then train your brain with an alternative thought. If you do it enough, you can change your thoughts, your moods and your behavior.

FreeCBT, a fork of Quirk, is open source under the GPL. You can find the code on Github at: https://github.com/erosson/freecbt

Really works and helps!

I found I can’t usually stick to CBT and find it hard to focus and concentrate, but this really helped me a lot! I didn’t need to worry about carrying round or hunting for a pen and notebook, Just open the app and go.
I found it helps being an app because no matter where I am or what time of day or night it is, my phone is usually close and can easily get it.
Thank you for creating this app, and making it so easy to use :D
I highly recommend it to anyone who has been trying to do CBT or is struggling at all :)

God send for someone who does not think before they act

This app has helped me so much to start to correct my cognitive distortions it has given me an idea of what to expect when I start CBT.

Not only does it list all the cognitive distortions in detail so that you can educate yourself on them it also allows you to break down your thoughts and challenge them .

I love this app so much thank you for making it :)

Thanks FreeCBT!

I’ve been using this app for 24hrs, it’s helping me to identify my unhelpful automatic thoughts, identify which cognitive distortions are associated with this automatic thought, it’s helping me to put together a challenge to this automatic thought and cognitive distortions and asking me to write an alternative thought that is more helpful to me and my outlook.
This is really helping me to navigate my life in a healthier way psychologically, THANKS TO THE TEAM WHO MAKE THIS RESOURCE FREE AND OPEN SOURCE :) YOU ARE AMAZING!
