Diarium: Journal, Diary 4+

For years I have used Efficient Diary. Similar setup (or so I thought). All my entries available across all my devices. A recent phone upgrade refused to copy over the app as it was no longer in the App Store. Investigations revealed that the company had vanished sometime in the 2000’s.

I came across Diarium (and a couple of other apps) and decided to give it a go. I’m so glad I did. This is an awesome app which has every facility you could possibly want. A simple but powerful interface which allows photos, sound recordings, tags, files etc to be added to any entry. The search facility is fast and accurate. All in all it’s a very well written piece of user friendly software.

…but it could be improved. Why the limit for the number of entries (5) that can be deleted at one time followed by the cumbersome process of syncing on all devices? I want to be able to delete whatever number of entries I want and have the other devices be synced next time when I open the app on them. Just like other similar apps do. When a photo is added to the entry the entry should use the photo date and time, currently it uses correctly the photo date but uses the time of the entry instead the photo time. It would be great if the app was able to get the keywords from the photos (if any) and turn them into the tags.

Why not just implement a trash can/archive for the deleted entries (as many people on the forums seemed to suggest) and let the user control how long they want to keep the deleted entries?

Sorry you aren't happy with the app. The 5 entry limit was introduced as an additional measure to prevent any potential data loss. Usually you wouldn't delete that many entries at once in a journaly maybe you can explain what use case you have that you need to delete so many entries so I can better understand the problem? Only dialogue can improve the app, negative reviews cannot. Maybe you can join the discussion in the community forums where changes and new features are discussed.
I didn't understand the problem you stated with the photos. The app doesn't store the time of the photos, the app isn't a photo management app, but a journal and I try to keep it as simple as possible. Thanks for understanding!

Honestly cannot fault this app for journaling, I’ve been using it everyday for the past 4 months or so and I have never once had a problem. Easy to setup and use cross platform with multiple IOS devices and Windows PCs. Seamless integration of photos and location data for use in the map view. Exporting of entries in various file formats. Also, it is such a breath of fresh air the app being a non-subscription based model that I am so sick of these days, buy once and forever yours, thank you so much! If you are looking to get an app for day-to-day journaling and diary entries, seriously look no further than this one here, it is perfect and easily worth the asking price.
