Ratings and Reviews
Works well but could be better
Although I’ve had no issues with the app or charger, there are a few improvements that could be made to get the full 5 stars. Firstly, there is no way to lock the charger if I’m not at home. A simple lock feature from the app would be perfect. Secondly, there is no push notification feature to tell you that the charger is in use. My car’s app will tell me if my battery has started the charging process but it won’t tell me if someone else’s car has been plugged in to the charger.

Thanks so much for the review! We appreciate the feedback and wanted to let you know that we've just released both these features to our users. To turn on push notifications, please go to Settings then Preferences. To prevent unwanted use of your charger, you can enable "Charger Lock" in the Smart Charging tab. Please don't hesitate to reach out to support@ev.energy should you have any more questions or feedback for us in the future!
Not so smart charging app
I had my smart charger installed July last year. It hasn’t worked properly since. I have tried time and time again to get help from the helpdesk and so far the only thing they can suggest is that I turn off the smart charging ability and use it as a standard charger. What is the point in paying all the extra money for a smart charger and then using it as a standard charger. Smart charging is enabled it just doesn’t happen so in the morning my car hasn’t been charged. Therefore my entire journey is spent using fuel which is not why I purchased a plug-in hybrid. As far as I’m concerned the app is only good for telling me that my car is plugged in wow I knew that I put the cable in myself.
My energy supplier is now offering off-peak electricity packages to allow for cheaper charging rates overnight but I can’t take them up on this as my charger doesn’t work and quite frankly as far as I’m concerned it never will do. There is no telephone number you can ring for support only email that take a few days to get a reply. They ask the same questions even though I provided a lot of information they still can’t fix it. Eventually I got a phone call to try and resolve my problem before Christmas here we are in February and I still haven’t had a resolution

Hi Steve! We are really sorry that you are having difficulties Smart Charging your vehicle. From what we understand, it seems that the issues you're having are caused by the connectivity of the charger. As ev.energy is the company that manages the app itself, we are, unfortunately, not able to resolve a hardware issue fully for you. If your unit has already been checked by an installer, please do get in touch with us at support@ev.energy so that we can better understand your specific situation and investigate this issue in more detail for you.
Buggy app leads to IRL nightmares
This app and charger were amazing for around a year but in recent months have been nothing but hell. The app consistently disconnects from my Tesla account but the worst part about it is, it does it silently, with no warning or notification. So you’ll plug your car in at night thinking all is fine only to wake up the next day with no charge.
How can’t you figure out the fundamental function of your app right? What’s more, this morning I again woke up with no charge despite having a perfectly successful one last night. Going into check the app and I’m just generally logged out of it, no rhyme or reason as to why or when that happened. But of course it meant the car didn’t charge and now I’m stuck with not even battery to get about my day.
I’m a huge advocate for EVs and try and sell everyone on the idea however, this is a perfect example of how they can go so wrong and completely defeat what is definitely the best option for cars right now. Sort your app out dude. Pathetic.

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about your recent negative experience with our app. This is especially disappointing with the app having met your expectations for the best part of a year.
Firstly, can I advise that you turn on push notifications for the ev.energy app if you haven't already. By doing this we'll ensure that you're notified whenever your charger is offline as well as when we lose connection to your car. This should help to prevent silent failures.
Secondly, I suggest that you get in touch with support@ev.energy so we can understand a little more about your issue. Your Tesla should not be losing connection this frequently. There will be a reason for this and I'm confident we can identify the problem. We'd certainly appreciate the opportunity to win back your trust!
