Just got mine installed today, it took like 5mins after it’s been plugged in before it kicks in to charge!!! And the engineer that fitted it couldn’t understand what the delay was and rang customer service only for them to say that’s how it’s going to be, so if you want it in schedule give it extra 5 mins before it kicks in… the App is also very basic. I was expecting more that the app will show you how much each charge costs and works with your smart meter!!!

Works OK but a couple of frustrations:Firstly, why am I mandated to have WIFI to use the charger? Is it because it needs the app to work? Again, why? Leads me to my second frustration: the “enable” button. This must be pressed after plugging in the charger - why? Why can’t it just charge when I plug it in? Is there a regulation that requires a remote button press to begin charging? If there is, at least make the button more helpful - there is no haptic, visual or aural feedback that the button has been pressed and, since there is a delay before it activates the charger, it is impossible to know whether it is going anything - so you stare at a screen for a few seconds (sometimes longer) wondering if you can wait or need to press it again. As someone else suggested, perhaps if it changed colour or at least gave an indication that an instruction to “enable” the charger has been received, I wouldn’t be left wondering. But, ultimately, I just want to be able to plug and go without needing to remember to open the app and press the frustrating “enable” button.

Someone complained that you need WiFi access to use the app. They were also very unhappy that you have to CLICK on “ENABLE” before you can start charging your vehicle. FOR ME what the person wrote on 3 March 2025, IS EFFECTIVELY the REASON I love the app, as 1) It gives me greater control over the app and also STOPS other people using my EV CHARGER & hence electricity WITHOUT Authorisation. I love the app, you can EVEN set via PROFILE (I think) and then SCHEDULE when you want the EVEC EV Charger to start charging your vehicle automatically at PRESET times to take advantage of OFF-PEAK RATES that some electricity providers offer. The app has an EXCELLENT UK-BASED Customer Service that can guide you through HOW to use or set up the app, IF you ring during NORMAL WORKING HOURS. This APP is PERFECT for me and I’m sorry it’s not very useful for the person who gave it TWO STARS…The app is like Marmite, you either “love it or hate it”… There are other EV Apps that work DIFFERENTLY… HOWEVER, for me this is MY PREFERRED APP & EV CHARGER. We had this installed and set up for us a few months ago which was easy. It can take a while for it to start once you click enable, and I do feel like the button could be more obvious to click. It’s more like a press and hold on the app rather than just tapping it once, I think if the colouring was different this would help to know it has been pressed enough.Apart from this it has only failed to start overnight once and I think this was a network issue. We were almost persuaded to upgrade to a different model but I’m glad we didn’t as this is a great little thing and I’d take it over public charging any day.
