I really like the idea of this app, as compared to other nutrition apps it provides guidance and takes out a lot of the personal work on the best fuelling strategy. However, understandably with it being a new product, there is a good bit of work to do yet to get it up to scratch. My feedback after a couple of week’s use is as follows, and in order of priority (from my perspective):Provide nutrition requirements for exercise (eg for a moderate 4 hour bike ride aim for 1g/kg/hour) currently the in-exercise fuelling requirements seem to just be accounted for in the surrounding meals. Provide more granular nutrition rather than 4/5 meals - I tend to spread my snacks across the day rather than at distinct points and this currently makes the live energy graph irrelevant. Provide quick & easy meal/snack ideas - sometimes the target calories/carb ratios feel difficult to achieve, so in all examples would help give an idea of what to eat to achieve. A lot of recipes provide require a lot of preparation (baking, etc). Fix bugs (ie live energy chart is never at current time). Fix Apple health integration and add more integrations (TrainingPeaks for workout schedule, Fitbit, etc). Make frequently food entries also the frequent quantity.

I've used Hexis for about 10 months. In that time, the app has improved dramatically. The foundation has always been solid - a useful tool to periodise nutrition around endurance training. The UI is now much better and performance improvements have made the app a pleasure to use.I am an enthusiastic amateur cyclist, racing and training 15 hours per week. Hexis helps me understand when and how much of each macro to eat to optimise training adaptations and body composition. It has caused a significant shift in the amount of carbs I eat before and during longer rides, and a general significant increase in protein intake (difficult as a mostly plant-based athlete). Being able to save favourite foods and create custom foods (e.g. my regular recovery porridge recipe) are great time-saving features that make logging easier. This is essential for consistency.I use the app to track all food during intense periods of training and racing, and to check general macro requirements (but not to track all food intake) during off season. The TrainingPeaks integration is amazing. I look forward to seeing the recipes the team creates in future updates (especially those that help plant-based athletes take on more protein!)

A cycling magazine rated the app, it looked convincing but so far it’s a poor experience. Visually it’s slick but regular freezes and seeming bugs make the app painful to use. The (Beta) Apple Health connection doesn’t seem to work and the GUI hides links under buttons. I go around in circles trying to update my weight, just doesn’t save it nor does the new integration harvest the data from Health app.Trying to change settings in the app tells you to use the web dashboard but the app offers no way of going there or if you log into the account through a browser there’s virtually no settings to adjust and you’re pointed to the ‘better mobile experience’ of the app — a joke, incredibly frustrating.There seem to be no easy app support links, perhaps they’re too obvious.I feel really gullible for signing up for the subscription, what was going through my brain!Naturally I expected I’d have to learn how to use the app but so far the experience has been a total letdown in terms of reliability, ease-of-use and user-friendliness.I’m going to try uninstalling and reinstalling the app again but really it’s a pretty poor showing so far.Update: reinstalling seems to make the app more responsive, it hasn’t frozen so far but the rest of my comments still stand. Can I have my money back please? Apart from setting up my account I haven’t actually used Hexis for anything.

I took the plunge and subscribed to this to help get a grip of my fuelling both on and off the bike. The interface “works” and the (working) features are useful and helpful for the amateur “athlete”. The “live” energy is a nice pictorial way of viewing calories in vs calories out.There is a MASSIVE drawback - the food logging is really laborious- it takes longer to log a meal cooked from scratch than eat it…may help with weight loss! The creation of custom foods is ok but only seems to allow g/ml and only collects very basic nutritional info.It lacks the ui of most free “calorie tracker apps” (no barcode scanner, no recipe builder that works and only has rudimentary “macros” (no fibre, no splitting of the fat) - the “database” of foods is not very accurate or large and the “take a picture” log has a 10% accuracy for me.I’ve committed to a long subscription so this will motivate me to use and log - I hope the development continues and logging of foods/recipes/meals becomes easy.
