I’m a complete novice and have enjoyed this app immensely. There’s a wide variety of pieces available to learn, many of which have been excellently arranged. My only criticism is the app does not always pick up when the correct note has been played when using “wait mode”. I appreciate this will be a very difficult thing to get right every time, particularly if a piano is slightly out of tune. However, a simple mitigant to the problem would be to introduce a voice command (e.g. “next”) which would move the app to the next note. For novices like myself, this would improve the learning experience enormously, as I’m heavily reliant on the wait mode to learn the pieces. Having to manually move the notation along by scrolling left / right is frustrating. It also means I lose my hand position on the keys (probably not an issue for a good player but difficult for a beginner). That said, I absolutely love this app.
Doesn’t work all the time on iPad

I’ve been using this app for just under 3 months via a Yamaha voucher on purchasing a new keyboard. Having learnt basic piano many years ago I decided to return to it once I’d retired. Initially the app felt very good and quickly got me back into the swing of things. I was connected to my DGX 660 via the midi interface. As things became more complex failings mentioned by other users started to arise, notes not recognised (even when switched to microphone), music continuing even if note not played, screen freezing up and the latest being a line missing on the treble clef. I don’t think these shortcomings are acceptable with the technology that’s available. As much as I wanted to like this app, I won’t be taking out a subscription because of the problems mentioned. I would suggest testing out the features of any piano learning app before committing a £100 plus.Update.Revised to 4 stars as I’ve found out a workaround for the problem of missing notes etc. If iPad connected via midi interface I found by turning off Wi-fi then turning on airplane mode the turning Wi-fi back on it cuts out most electronic noise (mobile phones etc.). Since doing this and always running the iPod this way when connected to the keyboard notes are not missed. The whole app functions better. I’ve since purchased a years subscription as on the whole this is one of the better “paid for” piano learning apps although it could still do with song music being available in A4 sheet form especially with the iPad Pro. Hope this may help others.

Fantastic way to learn!

I am now in my late fifties and always wanted to learn the piano, so a year ago I started lessons once a week at my home. I couldn't make the fixed appointment work with my lifestyle, so I cancelled a few weeks ago and signed up to Flowkey. Wow! I love everything about it - play songs I know and like, play along with the instructions, slow it down to a speed I can manage, go over it as many times as I want and most importantly- play when I have the time.I really think I have made more progress in 3 weeks than the year I had lessons and it's certainly cost me materially less. I have one key that doesn't pick up well on my piano, so I may get a keyboard as well, but it's nothing that has deterred me or really slowed me down. The support is also amazing - quick and super helpful, so if you have always wanted to play, but never knew where to start, I highly recommend Flowkey.
BEWARE OF THIS APP!!

I started using this app a couple of years and really enjoyed it. It helped me improve and start practicing some pretty complex stuff fairly quickly so I signed up for a lifetime subscription, ending up spending over 400 euros. I then find out that the songs I have spent a looooong time learning at Pro level can just magically disappear presumably because these guys have been breaching copyright. It is absolutely CRUSHING to spend literally months on a piece being tutored on it and then find out you can not access it again and there is no possibility of even buying the sheet music so once you have forgotten parts of it well bad luck you. The support are totally unsympathetic. 400 euros for songs that are not even guaranteed to be there, I feel like a total chump and then to be met by the utter indifference of the support staff. These guys are truly horrible - if they are not licensed for the music they are publishing - well they should not publish it. This is not a Netflix show someone spends a half hour in before it gets cancelled, there is significant time and investment into the pieces they publish.
Now is the best time to learn something new! We have improved the learning experience and added inspiring new songs for you. This version also contains bug fixes and improves the app performance.
