I’ve struggled with my wifi (Virgin media hub) for ages. working from home I’ve had more drop outs of WiFi and each time i contacted virgin they say the box is fine and that it’s my VPN for the company I work for at fault. After going backwards and forwards I invested in these, and what a difference they have made. No more dropping off the works system, I get better coverage around the house and better coverage in the garden. Winner, definitely worth the money.
Eero is a subscription service

Update July '24 New software doesn't address any of the issues, simply adds support for the new range of expensive hardware. Now I know eero devices only function with an additional £100 subscription, I won't be purchasing again. Update Oct '23: Unfortunately, eero has once again restricted more app features with their latest update, further diminishing its usefulness without a premium subscription. Historical network activity is now limited to just the past week unless you pay extra (£100/yr). This continues an alarming trend of eero removing previously free functions and holding them hostage behind a subscription paywall. Considering the high cost of their hardware itself, it's very disappointing they are nickel-and-diming customers just to get full functionality from the app. With each update, they take away a little more unless you fork over more money. Most of the premium features aren't even useful for the average user anyway. I've been a loyal eero user for years but these constant money grabs have ruined the experience. The latest app update has also introduced more problems and instability than before. I used to enthusiastically recommend eero mesh routers, but can no longer do so in good faith with the way they are restricting the app's capabilities to squeeze more subscription fees out of their existing user base. I am now actively looking at alternative mesh systems from companies that don't employ these forced subscription gimmicks. Eero's deteriorating app and new subscription-based business model is costing them previously happy customers.
Not good

The setup process is over simplified. I needed to set up PPPoE credentials in order for my router to work. The app didn’t ‘unlock’ these configurations until I had completed the set up wizard. The wizard was reporting an issue connecting to the internet and the only available option was to try again. If I followed the apps advice I would have never got it working. Also… there is an option to select the device type so you can categorise the devices on your network. It doesn’t work. When you select a type it basically just ignores your selection and reverts back to the automatically assigned device type (which in my case is wrong). My Nintendo Switch falls under the ‘other’ category and not ‘entertainment’. Feels a bit rubbish and something that would be easy to fix.So yea. Amazing hardware. Disappointed with this app.
Another update and more features now removed
A:T:O
It seems whenever the app is updated features which used to be free are now behind a pay wallI’ve tried out the additional ‘paid for’ features such as threat scans etc but they aren’t that functional and don’t give you much information as to the actual threat, just numbers and ‘scans’. The ad blocking is also temperamental restricting normal sites so requires some fiddly set up. They also offer a password tool and VPN, but I have other providers for those so I’m not interestedI’m fine, not paying for the additional benefits offered , but to have functionality such as basic traffic history also being moved behind a pay wall, despite many purchasing the product based on the functionality it offered at the time, to have this functionality removed post-purchase without warning is unacceptable.
Other UI polish and bug fixes.
