Xasteria Plus is the expanded version of the free Xasteria Weather app. It adds premium forecast sources, an Apple Watch companion app, Home Screen widgets, and more observing tools and features.
It also helps fund the 7Timer forecast servers that power the free ASTRO forecast used by Xasteria and observers around the world.
If you haven't tried Xasteria yet, the free version is a good place to start.
Forecast sources
• 7Timer / GFS: worldwide ASTRO forecast covering cloud cover, seeing, transparency, temperature, humidity, rain/snow, instability and wind
• Apple Weather: configurable hourly hyperlocal forecast, up to 10 days
• MET Norway: ECMWF-based, useful in terrain-heavy regions
• OpenWeather: hyper-local real-time conditions at your precise location
• Cloud Map: animated EUMETSAT and NASA infrared satellite imagery covering the last few hours
• Multi: combines 7Timer astronomy data with the optimal short-term forecast from MET Norway or Apple Weather, blending both beyond a configurable crossover time and highlighting disagreements
Apple Watch
• A companion Watch app lets you check key forecast data without picking up your phone.
• Several weather complications and Smart Stack widget.
Home Screen Widgets
• Configurable Tonight's weather and Multi-source astronomy weather forecasts
• Satellite passes
• Aurora forecast
Solar eclipses
Find every solar eclipse visible from your location, past or future, and rehearse it in an animated simulator with real-time audio cues calling each stage. The photo tool then runs the camera for you: timed shots through the partial phases, and automatic diamond ring, Baily's beads and bracketed exposures around totality, as stills or video.
More Tools
• Aurora forecast, with worldwide and local data/maps.
• ISS and satellite passes, with simulation, sky charts, live map tracking and dedicated Tiangong and Hubble views and an ISS live feed.
• Interactive light pollution map using World Atlas 2015 or Xasteria/VIIRS 2025 data.
• Lunar calendar with Sun/Moon graphs and rise/set/twilight data.
• Full Location Manager: online search, offline database, map picking, GPS accuracy, elevation and barometric pressure on supported devices.
• Quick access to Clear Outside, Meteoblue, Windy, Astrospheric, Sat24, water vapor imagery and more.
Display and usability
• Night vision mode: red, green or blue, with dimmer control, switching on manually or automatically at dusk.
• Three forecast display modes: icon/graphic, color-stripe, raw text.
• Summary icons for Apple Weather and 7Timer, configurable in Settings.
• Left panel switchable to icons.
• Extended help system.

Useful collection of astro weather data and forecasts in one place when you’re trying to work out what the weather is doing and whether you can observe tonight
Spot on app with loads of information

Like the other reviewer here I found the free version of this app awesome in fact I would of been happy to pay for the free version ☺️ the only request I would make would to be able to have the main screen full size or the location tab to be smaller or fold away, as I use auto location it’s a massive area of dead space, but it’s definitely not a deal breaker
Developer Response
Hello. Thanks for the feedback, you could write to me via the contact page on the Xasteria page (or even a comment on the page) about how you would want to use extra vertical space and on what device. For most devices I would think the vertical space is reasonably comfortable - horizontal would be more useful to see a bigger "time slice". But yeah, some feedback on that from users helps develop the app further.Edit: You are probably enjoying v4.0 which allows expanding the weather view ;)
Good app

I like this app a lot but would love it more if there was a way to get an automatic notification based on there being favourable star-gazing conditions expected during the coming night.
Developer Response
Admittedly, it is the most asked-for feature. I have refrained so far because I dislike notifications if they are not super-relevant myself, and that's something quite hard to do right with a subject such as weather forecast. I will look into it, but no promises ;)
Great app

It told me there were no clouds but seeing was crap which was bang on at the time so upgraded to plus version
Developer Response
Thanks for the review, but, remember, getting the weather right once for the UK does not mean you can blindly rely on weather predictions :D I am speaking as a fellow UK resident ;) On a more serious note, the 7Timer! seeing prediction is usually quite accurate, clouds are harder to predict. For same-day cloud-prediction, the Dark Sky might be more accurate as it is calculated more often.
• New Rain/Snow icon display that includes precipitation amount (can turn off in settings).
• Redesigned Apple Watch companion app, including a 3-day scrollable forecast, with location independent from the phone.
• Improved multi widget for home screen and watch with support for secondary forecast location.
• New small watch complications: Moon phase, darkness, clouds tonight, and clouds / seeing now.
• Fix widgets and complications for mono/tinted mode.
• Improved satellite Sky Map colours, added label font size option.
• Japanese translation.
