Decibel is a feature-rich sound level meter with sleep tracking, a noise dosimeter, and an advanced Spectrum Analyzer with RTA, FFT, and spectrogram modes.
Decibel turns your device into a powerful sound level meter without any extra hardware. Measure ambient noise in real time, monitor sound levels (dB), and explore frequencies with the built-in Spectrum Analyzer. Capture reliable sound and noise data wherever you are.
Designed for casual users, audio enthusiasts, and sound engineers, Decibel works as a portable sound meter for quick sound checks or deeper audio analysis. Use it to easily check noise levels, test room acoustics, monitor workplace noise, or fine-tune audio equipment. Decibel has various advanced features, including saving and exporting noise measurement data, live sound level overlays for photos and videos, and exporting data to the Health app to track noise exposure over time.

SLEEP TRACKING AND SOUND RECOGNITION
Decibel’s sleep tracking and smart sound recognition help you understand your sleep environment and nighttime noise. While sleep tracking is active, the app can detect common sleep sounds such as snoring, coughing, talking, and other household or environmental noise that may affect sleep quality.
Each detected sound appears on a detailed sleep timeline, so you can see exactly when disruptions occurred and play back the related audio. This makes it easier to identify snoring patterns, sleep disturbances, and noise events that impact your rest.
All sleep sound recognition and audio analysis are performed entirely on your device using advanced on-device machine learning. Recordings stay private, are processed locally, and never leave your device.

App works great, does what it says. App is as described & useful. Can’t comment on accuracy as had no stand alone decibel metre to compare it against but it seems to be roughly correct as what I’d expect. There is a premium version that may be worth it for certain users but the free version is great for 99% of users. Hearing test feature is nice touch also.FYI: If you want to check noise level of a Bluetooth speaker connected to your phone, it won’t work as it pauses the music as soon as you open app. This may, in part, be down to Apple. It would be great to see developers create a workaround (must be possible as snapchat uses camera and mic and leaves music playing). Not so much of a criticism but a suggestion for future updates.

Thank you for your positive feedback. Will try to find some workaround to get it work as expected in future releases.
Fine
loudness user
Seems to work ok. Without trying it side by side against a calibrated reference system it’s quite difficult to say how accurate it is in absolute terms. But it has plenty of functions. Different loudness weightings, an FFT which gives you a vague idea of what’s going on (but which has no scale.). Also a dosemeter and that’s a pretty useful function.Given what a fully calibrated, fully functioned system with a reference mic would cost you - plenty of cash - I would say that you get a good value system for the modest amount of money this app costs.

Thank you for using Decibel and for sharing your positive feedback, I really appreciate it.The app is calibrated using high-quality equipment so you can rest assured that the measurements it provides are very accurate and comparable to expensive dB meters. On top of this, I am constantly working on improving its features and functionality to match different user needs as required.Thank you again for your kind words and wish you all the best!
Good app, but be careful as accidental purchase of App is too easy.

App is great, but the pop up messages can give rise to accidental purchases. Initially I felt quite angry, though got a refund from Apple. Moreover, the developer responded thoroughly, thoughtfully, and professionally. I think he is genuinely trying to build a great app, but is just struggling to stop accidental purchases. These seem the only problems reducing his AppStore rating, and so I am certain that he knows it is in his interests to correct the situation. On the basis that I would prefer to help a developer, than blame him for how easy Apple makes purchasing with touch or faceID I have adjusted my review from 1 to 4 stars. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is the problem around the App purchase design. Which I am sure he will be making efforts to improve.
Developer Response
Thank you for your review. I'm working hard to improve this flow at the moment. I believe the work will be finished within a month or two and i'll get 5-stars from you. Thanks!
Good basic dB app
stupidaskingforanickname
I finally got an opportunity to use this app to measure the exhaust noise of my motorbike. I knew it was loud, so I had bought some wadding to muffle it. I wanted to have a measurable difference. I made sure to rest my iPhone in the same place for each test. I ran the bike at tickover, then at 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 revs per minute (rpm). I then removed the baffles and repeated the tests. I then added some wadding to the baffles and replaced them into the exhausts and repeated the tests. The readings seemed a bit higher than I was expecting, but it isn’t a calibrated app and anyway, I was more interested in the comparisons than the actual numbers. It was interesting to see the comparisons, and especially to note that, throughout the Rev range, to dB count was about 3dB lower with the wadding fitted than it was without. This means that, although it is still a bit loud, there is about half the sound pressure being emitted. This should prove to make the bike less annoying to non-enthusiasts. For this kind of test, the app is easy to use. There are other features that I haven’t tried yet. For my purposes, it’s a good app.
