Description

Dozens is the place for your various financial needs. It keeps you in control of your finances now, while also helping you grow your money and invest for the future.

A bit more about each section of the app:

HOME – Your personalised home screen gives you a complete picture of your financial life. From how much you can spend today to how your future plans are shaping up.

SPEND – Your current account is complete with an account number, sort code and a striking debit card. You can see your spending like never before. It’s explained simply and visually with details of size, location, weekly pattern and even how it made you feel.

TRACK – You can set up a smart budget that tells you how much you can spend weekly and daily. It works out today’s budget based on how much you spent yesterday.

GROW – Build up your savings automatically by rounding up your transactions and with fun rules like ‘Save £1 every time it rains’.

INVEST – Choose portfolios based on themes or your world view, whether it’s green energy or technology. There’s a unique risk assessment to help you decide if investing is right for you...

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We are not a bank. We are authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority as an e-money institution (FRN 900894) and also as an investment firm (FRN 814281).

Your current account money in the Spend section of the app will be securely held in segregated client accounts at a UK high street bank in accordance with the FCA requirements and the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 (not covered by FSCS). The FSCS protection covers cash in the Grow section up to £85,000.

When investing in a strategy through the Invest section, the value of your investment may go down as well as up, and you may not get back the amount you originally invested.

Good, good points - bad, bad points.

This is a solid app that does what it says on the tin - it will help you save; and when the bonds come back; they provide a good rate of interest - most of the app’s functionality is geared towards helping you save money and budget planning.

The flip side of this - as they often repeat, they’re not a bank; and the long term app user experience doesn’t inspire consumer confidence that your money is safe outside of the investment vehicle. (Inside the bonds; they’re governed by a third party that are stable and a good rate of return over a one year period)

If you’re trying to plan; and stick to a budget - this is the tool for you; it’s a good app and does deliver upon its promises. If you’re looking for investment or savings opportunities; this is useful. If you’re looking for a new current account - caveat emptor; buyer beware

Developer Response ,

Thank you for a thoughtful review. We are glad you enjoy our bonds, and the Track and Grow features. You are correct that we are not a bank, but we can still offer a wide set of current account features, though not all of these have yet been launched but will be coming soon. These will include direct debits and services like Apple Pay. Is this what you were missing? If so, these should be available once we've made a switch to our new Visa cards this year

Cheaper by the dozens

The USP of this app at the moment is the high incentive to save regularly via 5% trust bonds. I’ve made a successful bond bid which went smoothly and will look to do so when I’ve build up another £100 to save. Glad the IFTTT integration is live as well as round ups to save the spare change.

Haven’t had a full month cycle using dozens spend and track yet but approx’ 2 weeks so far: safe to say it’s early days where you’ll be very impressed if you’re coming from a legacy bank app but will have to give dozens the benefit of the doubt if you’re coming over from a neobank such as Monzo, Revolut or Starling as they have a couple years headstart.

dozens has great potential... a lot rests on how they can iterate fast enough in the next 12 months to not only bring feature parity with the neobanks but also in how they carve out their own narrative and gain a Banking licence.

Better than most just not the best YET

Really easy to use app, however the notifications for iPhone and watch need some improving. However vs most challenger banks the customer service response is almost instantaneous during the day and the ability to answer all of my niggling questions today upon activation of my card means they score a four from me.
Will
Update to a 5* once we get Apple Pay. However unlike the likes of loot you actually get bank transfers land within seconds using faster payment in and out to keep up with the likes of Monzo and starling. Also there are no fees and no fees required for the card which in my opinion is a downfall of Revolut. Welcome to the field dozens!
