Paid on line for a 3 months subscription. Received the email confirmation and money taken from my account. Once downloaded and opened the Deepstash app, I was asked to start the 7 days free trial period after which I will be charged according to their pay plan.Why the 7 days free subscription?! I already paid for 3 months.Now it is impossible to cancel the subscription using their app.

I went on a 3 month trial for £15. Since I wanted to get my value for money, I decided to try and log in every day. The app lured me by promising it would be like instagram but for your brain. The main reason I use instagram is for reels. There were no reels here. The app also promised it would be summaries of books etc. The summaries seem to have been created by other users. Some were okay others not so much. Ideas were either too long or too short, and I never felt like I had “read” any book. For an app that charges so much, you would think they would curate the content by professionals. The app itself is also confusing to navigate at first, and you are constantly being bombarded with badges because you did one thing or another, hindering you from actually consuming content. Pointless and meaningless. I tried to log in consistently but the truth is that this app is not addictive enough. Yes once you are inside you could spend a good half hour scrolling through ideas, but it seems to be all the same format. They promise audiobooks and what not but it’s AI generated and not available for every stack. After a while the same format gets boring. Content starts to merge in your brain because it all seems the same. So once you leave you don’t want to come back. After the first 2-3 weeks I stopped coming back altogether. I left it thinking maybe I would be enticed to come back. The app certainly sends you reminders and notifications about new ideas you could read. But even when I came back it was the same format, poorly gathered and not as interesting as I thought. They were going to charge me something like £35 a month to keep using the app so I have decided to cancel it. It’s not worth it. Wouldn’t recommend.

I found it way too boring for my tastes. After scrolling through countless books, I found each repeating the same ideas over and over again. The app prides itself on getting you to learn new things and get rid of doomscrolling. The issue is, it’s not nearly as fun as they make it sound. You learn one thing over and over again and if you already knew it: tough luck. I also found the breadth of categories lacklustre. There was nothing on LGBTQ+ for example, something I’m really passionate about. The history categories were just the main big ideas, no niche topics. As someone who considers themself well read, this was disheartening and frustrating. It’s fine for children being introduced to these ideas but for adults, whom the app does market towards, it just doesn’t have enough to offer.

A year ago this company charged me AFTER I have deleted my account as I did not find it useful. The company still charged me even though ALL my account details should have been removed.But a year later (start of 2025) they charged me again!!! They kept all my payment data and charged me. I wonder how many other people like myself are there that this company is extracting money from?Both times I have reached out to them to refund my the money and they did, but had 0 reaction, not even an apology. After the second time they charged me I sent them an official GDPR request to delete all my data and present me with the proof of deletion and they ignored it too - I will be reporting them to the officials.
