Been playing for a couple of months now and not had to buy anything. There’s 1 2 1 matches, 9 and 18 hole best score events and quick fire tournaments where you can earn coins to keep you going.Simple controls but quite complicated to figure out the best way to set up each shot - if you have played golf in real life you will definitely have an advantage as you will already get the way things can happen according to wind, spin, pace, being in the rough and so on.I would say that if you have no real life golf experience you might not like it after a while - it is not really what I would call a gamers game … you don’t have to respond quickly or react to an opponent it is much more an attempt to emulate golf and is successful at that - but not everyone likes golf.

I have now been playing for about 2 weeks , the graphics are good , smooth , and well detailed . The gameplay is easy to pick up , but a bit flawed in places . The aim guide has been misleading on several occasions leading to lost matches and lost coins . On several occasions in putting the guide has shown the path in green with the flag out indicating a correct line and distance , only for the ball to come up short, how can it be short if it’s showing green ? So you add more power next time because you don’t trust it , and the ball bounces over the hole . The aim on short iron shots has also been frustrating, the aim line shows the ball landing 5yds over a hazard only for the ball to land way short and into the hazard even with a good hit indication and the wind helping . It doesn’t happen every time which makes it tough to predict . As with all of these games , any rapid progression in the game will require spending real money as the in game currency is easily spent to upgrade clubs but harder to get in large numbers without buying . These things have taken the shine off what is essentially a fun game , not having to wait as everyone plays the hole at the same time is a good innovation that I like , the putting isn’t a total mystery as it can be in other games barring the occasional glitch that I mention . I’ll keep trying to improve .

Some refinements are definitely needed in the controls on course, a lot of aiming and targeting can be very sketchy in places. By this I mean its like theres an invisible grid used for the aiming reticule, the target moves in a sticky, awkward way and never seems to aim smoothly or quite where you want. The putting is ridiculous and is either extremely easy or impossible and the camera is way too low to the ground, the green aiming guideline is utterly useless on putts with a big break. Making small adjustments to your approach shot is often more fiddly than necessary, trying to make adjustments to the aim whilst putting isn’t the best either, in fact the whole putting system needs scrapped and reworked, its just awful. Overall the gameplay has a very inconsistent feel, especially with spin.Like I said it’s not a bad game but it’s far from what I would call good, there are definitely other games of this style out there that are vastly superior in terms of the gameplay. The main thing this game has going for it is the variety of courses and the fact they are real life courses too is a really great touch, also there’s almost always something to do besides 1v1 too which is really good, and the tournaments are always active and competitive.

The game is addictive and is now my ‘lunchtime break’ where I can get through a tournament with relative ease. Just a few points for the developers. Firstly, please address the issue of wind direction and speed during a hole. You have aimed for realism with graphics and the flight of the ball, but to change the direction and velocity of the wind, during a hole, contradicts the realism you are aiming to achieve. On the same subject, it would be extremely useful to understand the rings around the (no wind) landing point, so that correct aiming offsets can be assessed - how about a short tutorial? I think this game needs a driving range. For newbies, and even those who are experts, the occasional trip to the driving range could be invaluable - could be paid for in points or game cash. The tournaments are ok, but the scores are ridiculously low. Most players birdie every hole and many eagle the par 5s. When players come in at -30 for a round, that effectively equals 42…….this is NOT even remotely realistic, particularly when many players are achieving this score and this needs to be addressed
