A few issues but excellent support

I have used older versions of moneywiz for many years and have just finished my first year with the latest version. I have had a few small issues partially due to my poor misunderstanding and partly due to the lack of enough easy to understand information as with lots of products these days. However a product is only as good as it’s support and money wiz support, in my opinion is outstanding, offering quick helpful responses whatever day it is. I have had a lot of help from Paul who always perseveres till he gets things sorted. I do think that I probably don’t need everything that the 2023 version offers as I really just want to keep my current account and savings in one place, record direct debits, transfers, and any incoming payments etc. Speaking to others I think lots of people feel the same. Maybe a slimmed down version would be popular. Finally a big thank you to Paul for all his help and patience.

Balance Over Time not showing running balance anymore since latest update

When you go on the report options and select the report that generates the balance over time, if you go either in the past in a historical or in the forecast, it doesn't show the running balance during that period of times. It used to be before when you select any account, you can see the transaction, but below it in green, you can see actually what was the running balance left. Apparently since the latest update, it doesn't show this.My wife has the same using Money Wise as well, but on different phones, and basically, she's still on the old version. You can see the running balance, so I think this needs to be fixed because what's the point to have to balance over times report in place if you can't see there actually running balance over time during that period of times.What I mentioned here is actually we should be able to see normally the transaction, and underneath and under the number of the transaction, the current balance at a given date, and that used to be in a green color which doesn't show anymore. This should be definitely a bug that needs to be correcting on the next update because it was what's the point you have this report if you consider balance over times. How actually the account is actually evolving, what's the balance of the account because he doesn't show this, he only shows transactions.

God help you if you have mulple accounts

This app cannot handle transfers between accounts, it's just awful. The "identity transfer" function only works about 30% of the time, correcting miscategorised transfers then created duplicate transactions in the other accounts, then deleting the duplicates deletes BOTH sides of the transfers, so now you have no transactions... Oh and the account balances are calculated off of the transaction rather than just matching the account balances in the downloads, so none of your account balances will be correct unless you correctly reconcile all this 🙃Edit: downgraded further to 1 star. This app is unusable garbage. It can't handle refunds properly, when recategorising transactions it's far too easy to accidentally edit amounts or dates, and the transactions randomly jump around as you try to edit them. I think some data got lost too but I'm not sure if they disappeared or just moved somewhere I can't see. I'm a chartered accountant and i spent hours trying to get my simple personal spending into the app and I'm at the point where there's so many errors and duplicate transactions, I'd need to delete everything and start the whole process again with my new-found knowledge of this app's weird quirks. Instead I'm going to delete it and build my own solution in Excel where I don't have to contend with the developpers' poorly-conceived and badly-implemented automations

I've been using MoneyWiz in its various forms since 2013 and have been very happy with how it runs and how it has developed. I was sad to say goodbye to MS Money and was a little aprehensive when I first started, but once I got the hang of its intuitive funcitonality, there's been no looking back. It is my essential money management tool across multiple accounts, credit cards and investment accounts. I really love the seamless way I can use MoneyWiz across my Mac, iPad and iPhone with very little synch lag. The support is excellent - every time I reach out with a query, I get a swift reply that comprehensively guides me through the problem solving (mostly caused by me in the first place!). A big shout out to Paul for his excellent support and customer service. Very definitely recommend this app. I have not received any reward for writing this review.
