I have been learning German on Jumpspeak for 54 days now and I have lots of positive things to say about it, but there are two things I’m not a fan of.I feel like the full experience isn’t really provided unless you pay a lot of money and I know businesses need to make a profit but I think it would be beneficial for us if you could lower the price a little.Second, there are quite a few content bugs. For example, I was doing a German words lesson on family. It said that son is Kind and child is Sohn. I know from previous experience that this is the wrong way round. I have experienced quite a few other content bugs too.

A scam

This app is essentially a scam. I was keen to use this app having read a few positive reviews and having tried a number of other language learning apps/services. When signing up there was a problem with my contact details which meant my email address had a typo in it. I reached out to the support email to get this rectified and received absolutely no response. I have sent about 10 emails and messages via the AI chatbot on the website. Despite signing up for the ‘100 day free trial’ I have been charged for the annual subscription anyway. I have also sent emails asking to cancel with, again, zero response (not even an acknowledgement of the email). It seems that the customer service is extremely poor, or in this case, completely non-existent. There is no phone number to call either and the only way to get in contact is via email which is ignored. I tried using the app to get my monies worth since I clearly am unable to cancel, but the app appears quite slow and there is a lag when typing answers/questions. I don’t see how this is any different or better than other similar apps, particularly where other apps include the speaking/conversation function. All in all, I’m really disappointed.

Saw an add clicked and took me to a website. £55 for 12 months did not see so bad but would have liked a trial but was not an option. After it takes you through multiple pages to try and get you to add extra master classes and spend more money. It then sends you a email to download the app. I try and sign up and says un expected error. I try sign in it says error I check intrusions on email and still nouthing. Later I found that for some reason google or email or Facebook would not work but Apple ID did.Once in the app it asked some of the questions it asked me when on the website before paying. I tried to talking into the mic feature but it does not work for beginner English speaking people. Because if you do not know how to pronounce letters and words correctly and just pronounce it like you would English written words the app has no clue what you are saying. I wish there was the French text the English translation and a pronunciation guide because right now it’s impossible to use due to it asking me to say sentences and I don’t know how the words are ment to sound so the mic struggles to understand what I’m trying to say.

The general see of the app is good and teaching breakdown isn’t bad. There’s so far a failure in teaching language rules or actual grammar in the first couple stages but it’s good practice. However, it fails miserably on one section, SPEAK. Each little section of learning has 4 categories. Which are listen, write, speak, conversation. The speak section is basically phrases that it gets you to repeat increasing parts of until you say the whole sentence. Sadly it constantly fails to recognise the words being said to it. Now I’d argue it could be my prononciation but then in the converse section or in the AI mode, it’ll hear the sentences just fine. This ruins the app completely as if you’re in a flow it’ll take away all of it by getting you to repeat the same 3-4 word part of a sentence 20 times before it finally works, as you speak to it in slow motion so that it deciphers it and then still it’ll tell you it didn’t hear the first word after it initially highlighted it as being said.
