We’ve always been hesitant on IPad time for our toddler. But as she has grown, so have her needs, and as a neurodiverse kid, it is often hard to teach her developmental skills without her shutting down, and its certainly hard to get her to independent play. So, after much research, we downloaded the app in hope that it could give us, as parents, a bit of respite while also encouraging her numbers and phonics learning. We have only had the app a few days, but so far, it has been a pretty decent experience. We have run into one pretty significant bug, and annoyingly it is on her favourite game, the dress up game, where the clothes and hair etc seem to bounce around glitch off of the person until it is just a jumbled mess and the entire app needs restarting. Hopefully they are already aware of this and are working to fix it asap. On another note, we have found that using a touchscreen is not an innate ability, it was quite surprising to see the struggle my child has been having navigating the use of the screen. And as a lot of the games require a precise and gentle touch, she really is learning a new skill while playing. So, if anyone from PokPok is reading this and you are open to parent suggestions, I would recommend a little starter game before you can really start using the app that teaches the little ones how to fine tune the skills the need for the app like swiping, dragging, grabbing small objects and even tapping.
