WARNING! If working across Desktop & iPad via BM Cloud…

Decided to try working on a project on both iPad Pro and our Windows Workstation, and even my Surface Pro 7. A few pointers for the 1 in a billion who will be doing this! 1. Use a fast external SSD, like the Samsung T7 that we’re using. 2. Select the correct path for your media on each platform. (You only need do this once at the start of a project.) 2. The number of tracks varies, so if you jump from desktop to iPad or the other way around, you may experience tracks merging or moving further down the timeline off screen, so scroll down to find them. 3. Ensure you are using cross platform fonts. Arial is the standard font for this. 4. iPad version has bugs that won’t let you insert a clip from the media pool for no reason that I can fathom. 5. Prepare for weirdness when moving back and forth. Mission critical time critical project? Stick to one platform until all issues are sorted by BM. Overall, BM Cloud is a life saver. Not yet lost any work, and that is all that matters. Unlike FCP for iPad that is buggy and crashy, despite innovative UX.
Give me the edit page

After getting a Logitech keyboard, this has become a so much better experience, using the edit page is so much better, and after 10 plus hours of using it, I’m still non the wiser why this has not been implemented fully, I mean its there but you have to press keys to add it, bizzar. I’m hoping the upcoming DaVinci resolve 21 update fixes this. The other issue I find and its a big one, trying to stretch a clip of move anything is an absolute head ake due to the hold left click function apple introduces. Trying to do fine adjustments is near impossible without getting a menu popping up for holding down the click too long. I’ve tried to change so may setting within my IPad to fix this, and seen online people have the same opinion with no fix. Please also give us an option to create proxy files in a different location, you can do it on PC so I’m not sure why you can’t on IPad, it takes up so much of your iPad storage, as the files are the same size. The annoying home bar at the bottom of the screen is also really bad placed, everytime I change a page it brings me to my home screen, I think this is an apple being apple issue, but would be nice for the app to be able to disable this. This is made for the pencil and touch, but it 100% works better with a keyboard and mouse, allowing for faster and better edititng.
Great, but 2 small (but can make a big impact) things.

Hi, I think the app itself is great, high quality and just an overall awesome app in terms of performance, but there’s a couple of things I want to mention. The first one is that at random points of when I’m in the app it just, for some reason takes me out of the app and to the Home Screen of my iPad. I don’t know why it’s doing this but it’s really annoying because when I go back in the latest things I’ve done in a project haven’t saved. The second thing is: for beginners it seems really hard to use and learn so I think it should come with a tutorial for how to use different things and tips/tricks for movies. But if you HAD to do one I’d say: both. 😁 Oh, I’m on a iPad 9th generation so PLEASE make it work better for the ones that don’t have an M1 chip inside.
Brilliant start - however, I wish…

I have bought the studio version, I love it. Works great on iPad Pro M2. I wish that the UI had hover-over support with help text so you know what some buttons did… I wish that you could have the media pool open at the same time as the inspector so that video drop zones work and I wish Fairlight and Fusion were supported on iPad. I think anchoring text to parts or planes in an image could be better/easier without Fusion, some 3rd party effects do this, but not supported on iPad. I also wish the Media Pool would pick up on the “Date Taken” property of images from iOS photo library so I could easily sort media by date taken (instead of date created/date modified or title). At the moment, I have to use an iOS shortcut to rename all my files based on the date it was taken.
