A good tool to support practice and provides useful warm-up exercises
and robin
I progressed through the lessons quickly. It’s quite easy to spend half an hour or so playing without really noticing the time! But this means I’ve reached the “lessons are coming soon”. This is very disappointing (hence 4* not 5) as I’ve enjoyed doing them up to now. The exercises are brilliant to use as warm-up tools. There are, however, plenty of reinforcement tasks and songs to play and actually, any playing is good for learning and improving.

It’s ok, but not more. Terrible on iPad.

I got a three months free subscription with a new violin. It’s ok when you’re a beginner. The stuff is explained well. However, on an iPad it’s terrible. The notes you play don’t register properly and you get a lot of errors while playing. I have to play the notes a bit earlier than the rhythm would suggest, then it works better. I had somebody who could play violin try the app….same result. I will use it for a short period now, but would never buy it.Update: I found a way for me that works now. I wear headphones on one ear to listen to the music examples and listen to my playing with the other ear. That way, the iPad is registering the played tones better than before. Working now but it’s a bit of a ho-hum…. I gave it one more star now.

I have been playing the violin for most of my life and achieved UK Grade 8 some years ago. I was hoping for something to use to improve advanced bowing techniques. This definitely isn’t it. For anyone at the very start of their journey who is unable to afford a regular teacher, what I’ve seen of the app would appear to be a good start.

Now, at first I was REALLY HAPPY to start violin, my school had loaned one out, and I was learning. The next day? it didn’t help me refresh. All the songs were too fast even though it’s the first course. Personally I think this app is removing its reviews, but in my opinion? A lot can be done to improve.I spent 5 hours, slowly trying to improve, and at first? It went well. But then it just kept THROWING songs at me. It “listens” yet it says I’m late when I’m not. Alongside that the metronome needs to be louder. But so you do know, this doesn’t fully help you. It just rates your playing, and makes you feel pressured.I really hope this app improves because it’s one of the few ones on here.If this gets anywhere then sure, I’ll write a better review but for the meantime, this is not a great app.I get I’m only a beginner but I need HELP not just a bunch of songs for me to realise how horrible I am.
