I trust that this was part of a journey in terms of redefining the app experience. The For You page can be a bit fiddly when you just want the news or to navigate to Tickets but that can be improved. The new media focused experience is the right direction and I applaud it. Maybe not quite what the finished article should look and feel like. Keep iterating, you’ll get there. Don’t be discouraged by the super negative feedback. You’re charging something people feel close to.
Update a big step backwards
Admiral William “Bill” Adama
Unfortunately after several weeks of using the new version of the Arsenal app, I have to say they have missed. It’s a UX thing. It used to be pretty good, with a few glitches when using video content, or being a bit clunky with links and integrations. Now it’s just really hard to find the things you need without having to wade through irrelevant content. As an example I just went on the “latest” tab and it’s an article on Mikel Arteta’s presser from the 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen from the 11th March, 4 months ago. I’m on a new iPhone, so it’s not a ‘me’ thing. A club of our size should have enough budget to get the basics right at the very least. If I was in charge of the app team I’d have rolled it back to the old version, got them all in a room and, after a good old-fashioned hairdryer, set out my app non-negotiables: 1. Stop trying to impress Tik Tok, he’s never going to date you. 2. No embarrassingly out of date content, especially when it’s hilariously meh. 3. Enough with the incessant old videos already. 4. Remember people HAVE to use this thing to manage their Arsenal life, SOME of those people just want to transact, THINK about those people when you build feature. I’ll defend Arsenal to the hilt on most things, but it’s frankly exhausting being forced to use a bad app every day.
What an awful update
EIE23
The iPhone version is like an awful social media app.. I don’t want to scroll through multiple “for you” videos and photos to go hunting for the latest news.. I simply want to open the app read the news and look at my ticketing information/manage my tickets.. why is that so hard..The iPad version is equally as bad but doesn’t support landscape mode properly…..Why are you trying to be TikTok? The reason people come to the app is news directly from the club.. not to vote to see a picture of a particular player or any other mindless drivelRight now I open the app … do I see the latest news? Of course not I can see Martinelli against madrid (10 months ago) and Eze being interviewed after signing (6 months ago).. why would that be what I open the app for?Edit.. I’ve just opened the app to look at the fixture list.. why would I only want to view them month by month under different tabs rather than scrolling through like a normal app?Interestingly after turning it into a dumbed down version of what people really want you are now promoting it over socials, presuming because the App Store rating has dropped so low, you think that attracting social media addicts will improve the reviews? Ridiculous what people want is the authoritative source for Arsenal news … not this
Update

I’ve seen a lot of other reviews that are saying the same thing I’m going to say, but I’m saying it anyway. The update has completely and utterly destroyed this app, it is trying to be one part arsenal app, one part TikTok. It’s is so stupid, overdone and clearly done by someone who hasn’t asked the fans a single question or query into what they want. The website stays the same, but you slaughter the app, for what? Reverse the changes, bring back how it was before, you have regressed, this is actually annoying to use and is more hindering than anything and will drive users away from downloading and using your app. Stop this stupidity, we want scores, news, fixtures, and access to the live audio. All this other tripe is a waste of time and the clubs money. Tighten up lads.
