At Google Nest, we make products that are beautiful, helpful and easy to use. The Nest app is no exception.
Control your Nest thermostat, arm and disarm your Nest Secure alarm system, see your home with Nest Cam and receive an alert if Nest Protect goes off – all in one place. And receive notifications on your iPhone or iPad.
Nest uses sensors, algorithms and the location of your phone to do the right thing automatically, turning off the heating and turning on the camera when you leave. Forgotten to set the alarm? It will notice, and send you a Remind me alert.

Theour previous smoke alarms which were always beeping. These talk to you and act as lights in conjunction with door sensors etc. I have imported a Nest Secure and 10 Detects and am very happy with them too but am a little worried that Google only now make new products available on the Google home app whereas the Nest app is much better and intuitive with all the cameras/Hellos displayed with all the systems on the front page. Nest cams iqs are very good too and this is a much more secure, exact and active alert regime compared to the previous system we had where even the police monitoring became useless. The Nest doorbell works well and the whole system integrates nicely. The video is recorded on the internet so is secure for 30 days which is enough for us. The system components aren’t cheap but in my view it’s worth it due to the quality and the way it integrates and records. Only four stars because I have to log on through the Google ID and then the Nest App can stutter a couple of times before running stably, which never happened before when I logged on directly to the Nest App. My fear is Google will stop supporting the Nest App at which point I will sell all their products and not have anything to do with them again if I can help it including the search engine!
Good app but needs some updates in the schedule.

My goal is to maximise my contribution to help the environment. Since I put the thermostat my energy consumption went down and that is a good sign. I have set a schedule to heat the water in a daily basis, as I don't have a combi boiler. I wish there was a setting to flick somewhere to override the default schedule mechanism and to be able to set the timer in minutes, as there's still plenty of wasted energy there I believe. For example, wanting to heat the water for 50 minutes instead of 1 hour would be beneficial with the same result. But you can't do that, as there are only segments of 30 minute intervals. If everyone could have the option to do the same adjustments, then imagine how good that would be for emitting less gases to the atmosphere from all of us! Therefore, when I receive the emails from Nest reporting my green leaves, it's quite contradicting, as I could definitely do better but the app doesn't let me. Another suggestion is that the thermostat could measure the temperature in the house and adjust the schedule accordingly. For example, It needs more time to heat the water in the winter and less in the summer. Also, the app could ask us "how was your shower today?" [Too cold - Cold - Good - Hot - Too hot]. Thereafter, it would fine adjust itself daily after selecting one of the answers above. Ok, I'll stop writing more now ;) Thanks.
Very good but needs some attention

Google support means Nest can no longer be accessed off an Apple TV. However, a Nest App can still be used on an iPhone thankfully. It also means a Google account is a requirement. Troubleshooting support from Google is good when things go wrong but such information updates should be available beforehand e.g. on transformer brands and voltage. The subscription is reasonable. The app has a confusing mode switch called ‘home’ and ‘away.’ Home means there will be no alerts or recording. Away means there is recording on and doorbell alerts. Otherwise, face recognition works well and you can save names to faces. Occasionally, unique door chimes are released such as at Christmas time, which is nice. It’s an intuitive app, well designed, and reliable for the most part. The service is generally reliable but suffers from lag, black outs, and non-connectivity. When you need it most it might let you down e.g., the doorbell rings and you check who it is but it’s buffering away with no footage available. The codec for the video is also not fully provided by Nest/Google so the footage received must be converted using a codec on your device. This means your device CPU does the heavy lifting and it battery intensive to take the weight off the Google servers.
Upsetting annoying - don’t get a Nest!!!

I’m going to be very surprised if this review makes it onto the App Store but what the heck- here goes. Despite reinstalling this app it loves a crash midway through programming. And I mean constantly- ever time I use it. And by the way we are talking different iOS and different age devices. Constant sign in demands. Constantly not working. Also I hate that it’s impossible to have an account with nest that isn’t linked to google. The man has it all now! I have to sign in via Google to use this. (And wow do I sign in: re-programming Nest ensures a lot of these happen). And all that data share, my valuable data, is now being used analytically without me being paid. For what? Nothing improved in two years of ownership. Well analyse this: I’ll make it easy for you. Nest you are a thorn in my side. It will cost me a fortune to get my plumber to come and take it away and get me an alternative. I am stuck with it, it feels like a massive con. So my advice to folk: don’t ever get involved no matter what good reviews top this feedback. I want a refund but can’t ever qualify for one. It’s an enormous outlay as it needs pro installation. And it’s a load of not right.Additional info- the nest device stops working if you have a crash to its power source. This means your heat stops working and it’s impossible to override. Also once the fault is detected it won’t work as it needs to charge its battery. Avoid this device and its app at all costs.
