I've given this App 4 stars instead of 5, simply because of its Technical issues from what I've read , also from what I've experienced. As an App it's quite a unique one in its approach as there is nothing really similar out there, and it's great fun to check up while you're out and about to see who's popped up on your phone during your day to day travels. On NYE while I was out the app popped up 40 women in the space of 15 mins!😳 I find it more fun than serial swiping through ‘Troublesome Tinder’ and it is more real-time based. I think it's an App we've all thought about but never expected to see. If the technical aspects of the app are tweaked then I'm sure it will make the app more appealing. Overall I like it!😁* Update 2023* have noticed since re-downloading the new Happn it’s not as active on seeking other Happn-ers like it used to be so I’m finding it a little hard to justify the apps pricing unless there is a new data protection law I don’t know about.Then it kind of defeats the whole purpose of the app then doesn’t it ??? 🤷🏽♂️

When I first started using Happn the app was really user friendly but many of the updates have made it less so. The ‘crush time’ game is ridiculous because if you guess right it automatically tells the other person you like them too when you might not. Also the new timeline feature MAKES you choose whether to like or not before you can move on to see who else you’ve crossed paths with. If I’d wanted a ‘tinder’ type experience of a one time shot of looking at someone I’d have chosen that app instead. I like to take a little time to look and read about who I’ve crossed paths with before making a decision, also the number of times we’ve crossed paths has a bearing on that too. Please reinstate the timeline layout of a couple of days ago when I could scroll up and down without selecting a heart or an x!

The simple fact is this app isn’t what it used to be and has gotten a lot worse with increased updates. The whole ethos of this app used to be about finding (or potentially finding) people who live fairly local to you while you are on your commute or travelling around. Genius! It wasn’t a security risk either because it used to be smart and match you to people around you in an area - not who you walk past or can see. But now there are increasing pay walls, the changes have made it worse. The whole ‘privacy’ aspect and push towards being nannied with restrictive protectionism has made the app pretty much useless - it’s afraid to let users know who they may have encountered on their travels that is looking for a date and actively discouraged them to do so. Users had the control before to be very private but this app encourages them to be secretive now. Now it’s just like other dating apps - your potential ‘dates’ are 10+/50+ miles away (ie, not even in your country). Filters don’t make a difference at all. Because this app is NOT about local matches anymore and the excitement of meeting someone close. Happn has become a copy and paste of other apps without the finesse. Happn used to encourage users to leave voice memos on their profile and select interesting topics to highlight themselves. Not anymore. I see hundreds of profiles with no info and just one photo. I see loads of fake accounts because users don’t have to be in your area. The dev team are slow to do anything about it and if they are honest they know exactly the problems they have introduced but they won’t fix it because this direction is more lucrative 💵- to be like all the other dating apps and leave their original great idea behind. RIP Happn, whoever is in charge now has NO idea how to lead your team to make a quality, useable app - you’re just chasing the herd now.

Update 31 March 2018: when I thought things couldn’t get worst, now you have a full faced pic again and again of the same people you have liked months ago. I really can’t understand why happn keep complicating this app, it’s imposible to find new people even in a city like London! Or probably it’s because everyone is migrating to other more user friendly apps. ——————————Bring back the "already charmed" option please!Or we run the risk of looks like a pest charming the same person twice! Also when someone tag you as "not interested" they should disappear of your list and not just shown as "Active a few weeks ago"Update: this app is getting worse and worse. I used to spend a good amount of money buying ‘charms’ so I can use them when needed. The new subscriptions model is rubbish! £20 per month??? And just 5 Hi per day? I don’t use this app everyday because I know in my area there not enough people and already skipped or liked all of them, but I go to London a few times per week when I have the opportunity to meet new people and match with them, so I use it more often and I can easily use more than 5 Hi in those days.Now the app is full of invasive banners too.Also now it give you fake notifications to make you open the app to play a stupid crush game I’m not interested at all! In conclusion an App designed to rip you off in every possible way! Greedy developers ruining a good idea and what used to be a good app!
