I’ve been using this app for 5 years now. I can’t fault it. It’s smooth and doesn’t feel at all clunky. I switch tasks constantly so tap in and out every few minutes. At the end of the day, it’s easy to fill in any gaps where I didn’t record my time. It makes billing at the end of every month a painless task. It’s so easy to use that I also time record gym classes and study/music practice hours. I love the colourful charts which show where I’ve been spending my time/where I need to spend more time. I have the pro version so I can export regularly. Whenever I’ve had a query, I’ve received a fast and helpful response from the developer. I’ve tried so many time recording methods since qualifying as a lawyer in 1992, and this is not only the best one, it’s the ONLY one that I’ve found usable.
As simple as I needed but with the detail to go with it

All I needed was an app to track my time. Nothing automated, nothing that is requires me to keep my calendar up to date, just something I can simply touch as I switch between tasks. Oh, and I didn’t really want to pay a monthly fee for storing data that I probably do not need for years to come. I switch tasks probably many times an hour with just single minutes being spent on something sometimes before I move on to something else. Totally inefficient I know but just the way I work. One touch and I have switched task and another one and I am back again on the previous task. I would have given this 5 stars except for two minor things (and sadly 4.8 was not an option). Firstly (and I totally get this may be just my iPad) I have to hit stop multiple times before a task timer will stop. If I am switching then no issue. Secondly, it would be nice to add some custom fields to the tasks that are included in the sharing of data. Project codes etc. Neither in any way would stop me using this tool. Great app!
Unique approach to an age-old question

One of the aspects I love about this app is you are ultimately in control of what you do and when you do it. Maybe, it’s me, but too many organisational apps have your life mapped out! And that to me is pressure and overkill. You can create as many sub-task levels as you like. What I also love about this app is it’s intuitive and simplified approach to setting up, and getting things done. I found if I have a question, the developer would get back to me within 24/48 hours. If there’s one thing I would wish for it’s the ability to put an hourly rate for work carried out for clients, but that’s no biggy as you already have time calculated.
Best time tracking app
Marsmite
I've reviewed this one before and I'll sum up that old review by saying this app is fantastic. It's the best time tracker I know of by quite a bit. There's only one other in the running and it has an expensive subscription, and isn't even as good. But the reason I'm doing a new review is this app only has an iOS 13 widget. That widget works well on iOS 13-17 but it doesn't work at all on iOS 18 and newer, and that's a big deal for an app you want to quickly interact with. Hopefully the developer will add new interactive widgets for recent versions of iOS and WatchOS.It can occasionally hang on iOS 13-18, requiring a force-close. This didn't happen on iOS 12. It's been about that long since the app was updated so I'm not holding my breath for a fix. Similarly iCloud sync stopped working years ago.I'd really like a two-column view. I can give my categories short names to make it work on my phone. I think that's better than scrolling, and I think multi-column would be great on iPad.Anyway, it's still the best app of its kind.
