I’ve been using Pushover daily for 7 years. I receive notifications almost instantly, certainly within a second of them being posted even over a cellular connect. After the initial purchase price the service is free and works perfectly. It’s easy to send pushover messages from many languages or via simple script and they are received and displayed on any iOS device or Mac.

Does what it says on the tin and I’m sure it works well for a number of situations.... however I’ve tried to use it with a back up software solution to notify me of success/ failures... it’s ok but don’t expect real time notification, which I suspect is because the originating software is polling results only at intervals to post on to pushover and often it can take ages for the notifications to come through... not good if the backup has failed.. if it worked in real time this would be an amazing perfect cheap solution and for many situations where the output is under user control there would be no problem.. not so ideal when you are relying on other software to do its bit. To be fair pushover does warn you that some issues are out of their control.
Good App, Responsive Service, but Please Fix Accessibility Issues

Been using PushOver for a while now and it's a great service, very responsive, just the thing for implementing push email for a self-hosted server.However, both the website and app have some VoiceOver accessibility issues in need of fixing. The most serious of these is that the critical alert volume control is completely inaccessible, so please do fix that, but there are also a few unlabelled buttons throughout the UI. These are mostly possible to accommodate through trial and error, but fixes would be appreciated. Thank you.

If you’re thinking about a subscription, do it. For a fiver you get the ability to setup multiple push notification channels, the ability to create webhook and API keys for all your container or other applications. A must for anyone that wants a widely supported protocol for generating and displaying your own push notifications on iOS
